Creators of the application should refer to "MetroNorth" rail-road schedules something else like "Mighty North" rail road schedules then make the time for each station "off" by a minute or so.

With this approach, authorities cannot legally come back to say creators are using their data without a license.

    How about that?

  11. It does not matter on Dell Says High Linux Netbook Returns a "Non-Issue" · · Score: 1

You know why? Because for most folks, perception *is* reality. Once Microsoft succeeds in "planting" the notion that netbooks based on Linux are somewhat inferior, only the geeks will buy them.

This works for Microsoft. What we should do, is to focus our efforts on make Linix and OSS technologies relevant to the average human being.

What is going on now with MS Office coming to Nokia's hardware is a case in point. It does not work for OSS in general.

Firefox, OpenOffice.org and multimedia on Linux continue to suck big time. Lets work on these so that if one takes the Linux plunge, that person gets pleasantly surprised.

But remember: You'll not be able to put a price on the publicity all the "fracas" will generate.

As I write this, Microsoft need not worry about their relevance in my house. Linux is no threat to its dominance at all and here's the major reason why:

Multimedia is just broken on Linux. Period. I must say I have not tried the latest KDE 4.3 to see how its Phonon implementation has changed the landscape. I will check it out.

On the other hand, Windows XP SP2 has been quite stable in my household with no major viruses or crashes at all.

Talk about Google's OS then I will pay some attention because with this new OS, I know there will be some sanity in "Linux land" with Google's leadership.

To some extent, these issues apply to everything Linux save for the last point. I am waiting for the time these points will not apply to Linux and its associated software.

I must say that understanding BIND's configuration file was not that easy for me at first but after trying several times, I can say I am almost an expert. Things can be made simpler though. A text based interactive system could be of a lot of help. Tools like Webmin come in handy too though they require that a system be running initially.

When I called my support folks, I was told that I would need to either replace the motherboard or reinstall Windows XP. These are folks I had told what I had done to the system including the RAM upgrade. In any case, I would have had to spend in excess of US$220!

What I did was to remove the "offending" RAM and everything was good as normal.

My question though is why would the system work for three weeks before throwing the PCI.SYS error?
