If you get 3rd-party DSL, can't you get something like Vonage for VoIP? Hell, if IPTV existed, you wouldn't even need to get Cable/Satellite from them either.
Since IE7 should be replacing all older installs (or we can assume for the sake of the children here), you can finally drop support for IE6 and below. If a user is using an old version of the browser, they can either update to IE7 or get a real web browser.
Aye, the problem with being a music publisher or recording studio. I was thinking of starting my own indie label, but first I would need to find some good bands around here.;p
They know it doesn't work on their iPod, and that's good enough for them. I think it's good that Apple hasn't licensed their DRM to anyone as that would spread the "DRM is acceptable" mentality, and we surely don't want that.
You do know that the "copy protection" on CDs isn't even DRM? It's typically a program that wants to install that DRMs your music for you when you rip it (or a rootkit in the case of Sony BMG, so I guess I see your point).
And you must have missed the results of the primary election. Stevens got ousted so badly, he won't ever make a comeback in politics again. Look for a Democratic Alaska, coming soon.
If you're right, THANK GOD! Tubes man needs to get the fuck out of Congress permanently. He has to be one of the most corrupt politicians in DC as of now.
Too bad the Senate is supposed to deal with national and international issues. Ted Stevens should be in the fucking House, not screwing around with the Senate if all he wants to do is this pork shit.
Hey, guess what? MPlayer (svn) has native support for the latest WMA/WMV. I'd rather see most videos encoded with XviD/DivX, H.264, or Theora inside a Matroska or MOV container, but that's just me (and probably most anime fans out there).
Er, isn't the music already available on P2P networks? I don't think transcoded crap from DRM downloads will make it in the P2P world when direct transcodes from CDs are already available.

Just to be pedantic, I'd like to mention that the "--alt-preset" option in lame has been deprecated and superceded by the "--preset" option.
He's saying that banks refuse random people access based on said credentials. I guess banks tend to refuse random customers for arbitrary, nonsensical reasons.
CmdrTaco, the founder of Slashdot, says it's a blog, so nyah.

Ctrl-L is the shortcut for getting into the location bar in pretty much every web browser (Cmd-L on Macs). It's pretty obvious if you RTFM.

Twelve feet!? What kind of vinyls do you listen to?
Nah, that's vampires.
Oh wait, that would apply to them too...

Aren't "libre" and "gratis" both latin?
Especially if they would provide a nice, fast local mirror of a couple hundred megs with popular content (Game Demos, Linux ISOs, etc).
The ISPs that still provide Usenet already do that...
The only "expensive" part of shooting in 1080p60 is the 60 fps part. A 35mm camera can easily surpass 1080p in resolution, for example.
That almost sounds like the penis size argument! Whoa.
Well, it's an Ubuntu box, and MediaWiki 1.5.0 is running on it along with an old version of PHP 5.0 and an ancient version of MySQL.
Tell me exactly what it is that I have lost.
Your freedom.

He beat you by 4 minutes, and he did it with a link.
No home should be without one.
What kind of home is going to spend ~$5000 on an anything-shredder?

I think a better comparison would be somebody leaking a high-quality pre-release of a movie.

That sounds like something Roblimo would do for a video.
Oh wait...
