Umm no. The mach kernel is really just an interpreter now. The dualy thing is interesting. The Free-BSD 5.x kernel really hauls the freight. I'm not a driver guy but I'd guess they'd have to be pretty similar. Start here

Hell I'm 58 and I have been playing FPS since Doom. I hacked up a boosted TCP/IP stack on DOS just to get me and my son online to play Quake. Those were the days, maybe a few thousand people total, you could run into people you were playing with before all over the place. I can remember whole games dissolving into laughter after some dumb move or other and all the players kinda froze as everyone fell off their controls and typed.
Oh yeah it's not as much pure fun but I just loaded up Last Man Standing for Doom3 and it will be a stone hoot.

You probably have a life. That cuts into video game practice a lot;). I have been semi retired for years and do pretty well as I please. I don't play much online anymore, it takes at least an hour a day just to retain your skillz. My 24 year old daughter, who was weaned on Doom2, takes about 3 - 4 hours to come up to speed in the Q3 world, but then she is insufferable, Lucretzia the humiliation queen;).

An FPS is an FPS. We play em' to have fun. I am used to id's games and love em'.
I guess I expect stuff to jump out behind me, years of playing Doom & Doom2, I just kill em' as they attack.
If a station was demonaicly possesed as in Doom3 you would expect weird stuff and monsters in the closet. Or I would anyway. If you just want to 'run and gun' (Black Debbie;) play deathmatch online.
Quake3 owns pure deathmatch, there is nothing that lets me spin and shoot on pure intuition like Q3. Most people don't like it because the people who play it are largly monsters and any newbie will be just chewed up.

There may be some truth in that but he has made it popssible to create some very cool levels.
I have over a thousand doom and doom2 wads.Levels made by every crazy fool who wanted to. They are wonderful. Some suck wildy and many are great but what I want is doom3 to have the same possibility. Then we will see some wild mini games pretty soon and some great full games in a year or so.
There seems to be some out there already, guess I'll go buy the game;).

Well I played Doom over the phone and it rocked pretty hard. Then Quake came out and I hacked up a boosted TCP/IP stack in DOS and that was a real blast. Prolly only a couple of thousand people playing for the first six months or so. Zoid must remember this golden time. Then he hacked up Capture The Flag while at threewave and the modern online game experience began.
Maybe you explain what advanced and varied game you were playing long before this occured. Perhaps text based D&D on your Ultra?

Looking good man. I just brought up my new box a SLI asus deal with a GT6600 etc. I have Slamd64 up on it and it is cool but does not play well with 32 bit stuff. Any use for a tester with such a box dood? I don't wine much but I'm looking for a project to help out on. I was dualy tester for Utah GLX for quite a while and enjoyed that.

That is just plain dumb. Try about 25% fat as a percentage of your calories, just use butter etc and avoid any manufactured fats. Try 30% protein and the rest carbohydrates.
Restricting calories a _lot_ gives some life extension in mice, really skinny mice;).
