"If people can't search the Web they call the IT department, so the IT department makes sure HTTP is always working. We have engineered the hell out of it."
Yeah, we were using inktomi, and you couldn't find anything.....things are much better now. I think we have close to 200,000 employees, spread out all over the US and the rest of the world, with lots of data on our intranet.
It's nice to for internal webmasters, since you can include parameters in your html form that will limit the search to just your host, eliminating the need for me to maintain my own search engine.
Yes, testa rossa does mean red head, but Ferraris, all having overhead cams don't have 'valve covers'. The cam covers on Testa Rossas and Testarossas are painted with a red crinkly finish paint.
Actually there was/(is?) a plan to re-engine the B-52 with four larger turbofans in place of the eight current ones. I believe that the plan was to lease the engines and have the maintenance done by a commercial airline. BTW, I think the plan was to have the same class of engines that are on a 757 not a 777.
Yeah looks like the mpg is higher than I remembered from the Road & Track comparison test between the Prius and the Insight.
If I were choosing between the Prius and the Insight, I'd pick the Prius ---no contest.
One of the advantages of the Prius, compared to a TDI, kind of disapears when you consider the climate where I live. Particularly the fact that it can go electric only at low speeds; according to Road & Track (please correct me if I'm wrong) The gas engine remains on if the air conditioning is on.
I live in Texas, and had to use the A/C just last week. There would be relatively few times that I would get to go electric only.
Oh well, it's all kind of moot for me anyway, I decided that 18-20k is too much to spend on a car of that size, TDI or Prius, so now I'm focusing in on the Elantra GT...
I agree that the Prius is pretty cool, much more practical than the Insight. However the price is way too expensive at US$20k, the car is just a little bit bigger than the Toyota Echo, which sells for several thousand less. Also, I believe that the epa fuel economy is something like 46mpg city/42mpg hwy (the car uses only electric at parking lot speeds so the city mileage is actually better than the highway, go figure)
I know, I know, the tech is very expensive, and at best Toyota probably makes -0- on these right now.
Too expensive, especially when you can get a Golf GL TDI that gets better mileage with more proven technology for about $3k less.
It's not blanket blocking, napster sends cddb the name of the Artist/Song that the copyright holder wants blocked, and cddb sends back a list of 'alternative' file names.
Doesn't the typical modem connection try and compress stuff anyway? I regularly get 12kbyte download speeds over a 56kbps modem when downloading uncompressed text.
It's pretty easy to set up a ram disk on a mac. So, in the past, to speed up browsing, I created a ram disk on the mac and moved netscrape's cache folder to this ram disk. This sped up browsing quite a bit since the cache files weren't physically written to disk. IIRC you could even save the contents of your ram disk upon shutdown.
If you have a slower machine, particularly one where the disk is the bottle neck, and also have ram to spare, this can be an effective tecnique.
In the article it is stated that the TFX program in the 1960's became the F-4, in fact the TFX program became the F-111.
Just wanted to set the record straight.
Nevermind the fact that a lot of things are not _directly_ charged to a particular airplane.
careful now, you might get arrested!!
Heh, heh, Petswarehouse.com appears to be getting /.ed....it's going r e a l l y s l o w.
I thought these folks were the ones famous for cheap Fender knock-offs, with the 'Fernandez' spelled out in the same script as Fender....
As for me, I'll stick with my Paul Reed Smith.

M$ Engineered the hell out of http????
And the liberals are the ones that want to take my money and give it to someone else, via large governmental agencies....
Um, I guess that would be why the 'Liberals' want more laws (such as gun control) that reduce our freedoms?!?!
I think you have your terms mixed up, at least for US politics...
Oooh, sorry dunno, not part of that group....not even in the same state as that group.

They just implemented this were I work, it's a vast improvement over what we had before. It even includes the cache and newsgroup features!!
Two thumbs up!!

Unless it's freaking 100 degrees outside and you have to run the A/C at full blast to keep from melting.

It's special _e_ffects not _a_ffects
Hey, at least they didn't move from Solaris to NT!
The SWC broke up _years_ ago!!
Former Horned Frog.
I like the idea of a furry cluster: furbeowulf.

It's pretty funny how he goes on and on about the number 4 when cubes have 6 sides!

Of course, disks are pretty cheap now...
Um, I think CIFS/9000 is based on Samba, see the link here.
