I do something similar. I collapse the legs on one of my TV trays and it turns in to a lap desk (end of the legs touch the floor and are parallel with my legs if your wondering). Then when I have to go do something I uncollapse the tray and stand it up. When in normal TV tray mode you can still use the laptop normally by just leaning in. It's the best solution for couch laptop use I have found.

Not to start a language war but I strongly suggest that you take a look in to Java. Most people do not realize this but it has it has improving nonstop ever since it was created. With 1.5(in 2004) the language got a major overhaul. With 1.6 (in late 2006) the GUI layer had a lot of it's bugs fixed. Right from the start you did not need to worry about pointer management and garbage collection. Also it has simple, clean and (most importantly) native threading and reflection support.
I'm curious, why is Java a no go?

I was just thinking that. I'm gonna guess they plan on doing that soon. With the Orange Box they just added achievements for the PC. I remember that I noticed a change in the achievement system a few days ofter the games came out too. For those of you that are unaware your achievements are stored online. The change that I noticed was that Portal and HL2 achievements became visible from your Steam page http://steamcommunity.com/. An issue with this is that if you complete an achievement while off line it's not counted. The problem is that saved games are far bigger and used for more frequently. They might just make a "back up this save" option from the save menu.

Well from a quick look at the wiki for this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BD%2B#Digital_rights_management_.28DRM.29 It seems like all they have to do to deal with a weak crack is change the disks a bit.

If a playback device manufacturer finds that its devices have been hacked, it can potentially release BD+ code that detects and circumvents the vulnerability. These programs can then be included in all new content releases.
Anyone have any idea how BD+ was cracked?

I'm guessing that XP already has some drivers and changes that XO needs that 98 doesn't and that Vista is so heavy to run that it would be more work to take it all out then to just use XP. The funny thing is that they do have Windows CE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_ce that is made for this kind of thing. The only reason I would guess they are not using that is because it looks "too 90's" or something.

Well people look for different things in art. For most people games are entertainment, a time killer. Like TV is today and books and plays were in years past. Just something interesting to do for now. People like me look for a story, something I can think and talk about. Because of this I love RPGs and I'm currently very into HL2. Other people who play Halo and madden look at games as sport. A way to compete with their friends. The same game can cause two different people to invoke totally different emotions. I doubt that the GP has no emotions when playing but instead that they just don't get attached to the characters. The GP does not feel remorse at killing a innocent character because he/she is more interested in feeling accomplishment at beating the game instead of feeling that the game is real.

Steam is so different than any other DRM that I don't even think of it as DRM. Every other DRM limits the original buyer. In all my time using steam I have never seen it do that. Multiple installs? Ok. Lost CD? Let me download that for you. Playing off line? That's fine, just register once. In fact using steam for me has made things easier. All I need is my login and password and I can play any game I have bought ever anywhere. I felt really crappy the first time I herd about steam but now I love it. It's really a shame that games like Bioshock feel that they need to include their own crappy DRM when they are distributed by Steam.
