I wouldn't have said it in such an inflammatory way, but I have to agree.
Now, what I would like to see Adobe do with flash is to enter the game market. All of pieces are there. They have a rich development environment. They have thousands of experienced developers. They have hundreds of thousands of titles already running in flash. They should have a partner manufacture a device similar to the Roku, but that loads as tiny of a linux as it can to boot and still run a full screen flash player. Then add joystick support. Maybe open an app store. They just might be able to push a game system out to market in a sub $100 price range with very little development.
Of course, this system wouldn't have the graphics or CPU horsepower of the Wii/PS3/Xbox360, but it would have thousands free software titles on the day the device was released. It would also be very friendly to small developers.
The reason you think that bread and cereals are not sweetened is because you eat so much sugar in such high densities that you cannot taste it. I eat very little sugar, and I can tell you that I can taste huge amounts of sugar in virtually every bread I have eaten.
My favorite sugar lie recently was an "All Natural" granola cereal from a brand called Kashi. It's second ingredient was "Concentrated Cane Juice Extract Crystals". Now, maybe I am miss reading it, but that sounds like a complex way of saying "sugar".
Are you saying that one day they might find a gene that will double the number of people I find attractive? Massively increasing the chances of having sex with someone I desire? Oh, wait. You said a "gay gene" not a "bi-sexual gene"... Never mind.
Ahh yes.. Because porn is totally different if "It's on a computer"(tm). Schools have been dealing with porn in the paper format for pretty much as long as there have been schools.
Part of the problem is the long tradition of allowing the lie of "Free" to be used in advertising. It's real simple. If I have to pay cash for access to something, it is not free. They are claiming the DLC is "Free" even though you have to buy a $60 item to get it. This logic is no better than telling a judge, "These women are not prostitutes. They are giving the sex away for FREE with the purchase of these $300 packages of Tic-Tacs."
I did realize that erosion was likely the cause, and I immediately saw that the math was WAY off. I also know that sea levels don't rise locally. So, it was clear that the Global Warming claim was BS, but the fact that the island was basically an unstable mound of sand and mud piled up by a storm surprised me.
So, if we want to use this island as a measure of Global Warming and Sea Level changes, then we would need to use a much longer time period than 40 years. Even if one were to use a still relatively short time frame of 1000 years, there is a dramatic 'Hockey Stick' of sea levels LOWERING. (Yes, I am making an absurd statement for dramatic effect.)
Honestly, the AGW crowd do themselves a real disservice by not lambasting this sort of report. The people that think AGW is a sham will absolutely point to this as another example of clearly false claims. Speaking out against lies when they don't suit you, and then quietly stepping back and letting lies that work in your favor to stand is just another form of lying. It shows that one is not interested in being right. They are only interested in being able to SAY that they are right.
The AGW crowd is claiming "The end of life on earth as we know it is nigh!". One would think that if they REALLY believed it, call out people who claim to speak on their behalf and in doing so feed their opposition by telling easy to spot lies.
Now, that is interesting. I didn't read that anywhere else. So, this was just a bunch of loose material that got pushed up into a hill? It's a wonder it lasted as long as it did then.
Bingo! I can't count the number of times I have heard someone claim that they didn't understand, and it was ok because they are not "computer" people, when the thing they did was not really "computer" related. Things like, not turning a computer on, and wondering why it isn't working. That isn't a "computer" problem. That is an "Electricity" problem.
This is why I always laugh at people who use quotes from Einstein on social issues. The A-Bomb is pretty much indisputable proof that Einstein was a brilliant physicist, by a complete moron in sociology.
I have to agree. It is also frustrating that a huge number of games that would work better with the classic controller don't support it at all. The WiiMote on it's side, while usable, is not a good replacement.
More likely, it is because the very question is loaded. For example, you can bet that 100% of the teens who have an unwanted pregnancy are going to say they wished they had waited. Of course, the real answer ISN'T that they wished they had waited. It is just perceived, as a way of saying they wish they didn't get pregnant. Of course, 40 year olds that have unwanted pregnancies are not even presented with the excuse of claiming that they wish they had waited.
Also, because of the stigma of teen sex, teens are pushed to SAY that they regret sex. They are also told that they are better people if they DO regret the sex. They are told that they can have all the sex they want as long as they regret it afterward. Of course they claim that they regret it.
It is more of a Representative Republic. Everybody gets to vote for the person who will ultimately make the decision. In the case of Ubuntu, many of us have voted for Shuttleworth to represent us in our Linux distribution. He makes ultimate decisions in Ubuntu. If we don't like it, we can all go vote for some other distribution, and have someone else be our representative.
I don't think that they really wrote or intended to say that a state must be a republic. The article specifically states that a republic will be supplied to the "states". This is opposed to the 2nd amendment that specifically gives the right to bear arms to the "people". The writers of that law were aware of the difference between states and people. So, as long as the federal government gave a representative government, the requirements of that law would be met.
That being said, there would no doubt be even more of a fight of that than there is over the meaning of the the second amendment, and I am well aware that we are in no risk of some state deciding to vote in a king, emperor, or czar. (Czars are only for Feds for now.)
Well, in theory, each state IS supposed be able to choose it's own state government. I don't think there is anything in our system that prohibiting a state Queen...
Current corporate culture also makes the change control problem worse. As it now stands, many in management still think of computers as some magic box. This leads them to the poor decision of allowing system administrators to make business decisions that are not system administration issues. Things like allowing a system administrator decide who gets access to a document, or who can change it. Where I work, the system administrator decided that they only need to keep backups of documents concerning employee injuries for 3 days. There is no excuse for that kind of decision being left in a system administrators hands. Legal should be making the decision on how long backups need to be kept for records that may be needed for future lawsuits.
My Windows 7 crashes at least once every couple of weeks. The fact that I put a video card that lists it's requirement as needing a 200 watt power supply, and my computer only having an 80 watt power supply might have something to do with that though...
You did not understand the OP. He is identifying a specific application "Microsoft Update" that does launch IE instead of the default browser. He is NOT saying that "Microsoft Update" will no longer launch the browser on his machine. He is saying that if the Microsoft site refuses to talk to anything less than IE9 then when "Microsoft Update" launches IE8, it will fail to work, and you will no longer be able to manually update Windows XP. I'm not convinced that we will ever see that happen, as that would be officially removing support for XP entirely since there is no way to force XP users to upgrade to IE9.
No, it SHOULD be SOP. It should be trivial, but I haven't been in a single business where it actually was SOP. I'm not saying that there are not businesses that do it right, but you don't get to look like a hero fixing computer problems if there are no computer problems to fix.
If it only works in a limited spectrum, cell phone towers. The Neo-Luddites that make up stupid excuses to try to fight the existance of cell phones often use the "Eye Sore" excuss to try to stop antennas from being put up. This would put an end to that. Of course, it would probably lead to a whole new argument of "Invisibility gives you cancer".
That reminds me of the commercials here in the US were Visa was advertising how easy it was to commit fraud with a Check Card. They showed a guy going into a pet store with his daughter, and the shop owner asking to see ID to use a real check. The guy didn't have ID, so the commercial goes on to show that with a Check Card, you don't need ID, and you don't need to know a pin number. All you need to do is sign a name, and the store will accept it.
Somehow, people didn't seem to understand that if the guy in the commercial found the card on the ground outside, they were showing how easy fraud is with one. Even to this day, I still get people trying to explain that since you are allowed to (but don't have to) enter a pin when you buy something with a check card, that somehow it is secure.

I know many will hate me for this, but if it supports Flash, and they could get joystick support put into Flash, I would be all over it. The amount of free and legal games that my son plays that are Flash is huge.

Honestly, the DS already has a ton of educational titles that are worth a damn. It is a full on genre on the DS.
