They could still pull it out.

They need to get people on board with the cell. As a dev I know multiprocessor coding is difficult and the new compilers that are allowing us to spend more time coding then figuring out what needs to be run in parallel while waiting on another process to finish. The kernel in the xbox 360 does a better job of actually breaking the executable into different executable code for the different cores, strictly because it has the compiler in the DK that does it. MS has years of multi proc experience and did it right here.

Sony DK is bad , the compiler is an ibm knock off and not a whole lot of it is friendly to the devs. It is a poor example of a multi proc compiler. They like other OS devs need better multi proc compilers with the vision to create an executable that has multiple executables built inside of it and have those mini apps sent to a core by the kernel to be worked. The Sony dk takes time to learn to do well , while the 360 is very close to windows in a multi core environment.

Sony needs to invest heavily in the developers at this point and work with them in making the games easier to run across the cell. Once that happens it could very well tip the scale in their favor. The 360 was not really designed for full hd gaming the ps3 was.

For now until the ps3 comes down to the $300 price point with hdmi , rj45 jack , and wireless controllers they don't have my money. But I do still tinker with the code to try and get more apps running better on the ps3 linux port :)

The idea f this being a cat and mouse game should be absurd , they should stop mangling any data and design capacity to handle this issue. Move on to docsis 3.0 and then keep the uploads where they are , maybe see if bonding upstream channels are possible to loosen the network up a little.

The thought I have to play cat and mouse to help FOSS community when seeding debian torrents, just pisses me off. I pay for the high speed tier and I help the community with a service I paid for. To me this sets a dangerous precedence and it could make this an option for other companies who don't want to develop their networks to deal with the coming generation of applications that may need more bandwidth. When they start breaking protocols but leave spambots and bot nets alone I have a real issue.

I believe the unlocking came from the fact you could install different software. You did not have to damage the phone at all , it was a software application that actually did the unlocking. So apple stopped that with the new update and bricked phones that had run the software.

Easy way to prove it is to grab the newest firmware and disassemble it via community channels. And once the community disassembles and comments the code it will be easy to show how they bricked the phone and if it was intentional.

Great my 1680 x 1050 monitor can't play HD content, I don't care about it. Oh wait I have a 1080P Plasma TV to do that. Give me a DRMless option to use that may run like xp.

Strip the DRM out of the OS and get rid of the fluff, and it may be as good as some of the linux distributions, to me once they went with DRM in the OS I knew it was going to be slow. I don't want to run 4 gigs of ram , 4 procs , and a $500 video card just to get a decent user experience.

I am sitting fat dumb and happy running Fedora with quad core and 2 gigs of ram. It does everything I need it to as well as run XP in a VM just in case I need the odd Windows app that don't run right in Wine.

MS needs to get off the high horse and come to the table with a decent OS , to me Vista is the new ME. Hopefully it will die and the Next Os will be as strong as Xp is. Or maybe service pack 1 will remove all the stupid crap they loaded into Vista. I had to remove it from a laptop HDD just to install Fedora , since the Vista boot manager didn't like my install.
