As the submitter for this story (thanks Timothy) I always chuckle when I hear the excuses from Diebold et al for not putting in a paper trail for electronic voting machines. The usual excuse is that computers don't make mistakes.
If that is the opinion of those producing these machines and their backers then they wouldn't mind not getting a receipt when they go grocery or car shopping. In both instances computers are used to calculate the total bill including tax (if any).
By their logic since computers are used to perform this calculation, and, according to them, computers don't make mistakes, then there is no need for a receipt to show how much each item costs. Instead, they're just told how much they owe.
I'm sure grocers and others would love this. A few cents here, a few cents there. By the time the bill is rung up you could end up paying several dollars more than you should.
For all the protestations we make about other countries not having open and fair elections, there are certain parts of this country which aren't too far behind.

Actually, you're not too far off from what I've been saying for a while. If the folks at Diebold et al feel that a verifiable paper trail is not needed then the same should apply to when they go shopping for food, clothes, etc.
After all, if the computers are claimed to be correct in tabulating votes then the same can be said about totaling ones food bill.
Besides, what's a few cents here and there when calculating the price of a box of dried macaroni?

What is worse is the fact that most games put out by christians fall into one of two categories;
If the games were put out by christians then there wouldn't be a problem, would there?
Besides, why is it when the word religion is used christians think they have the market cornered. Talk about self-centered thinking. No wonder people are so anti-christian. Anytime the discussion of religious rights come up the christians are front and center whining how their right to display their religious views are being infringed upon or taken away.
For example, the judge down south who refused to remove the granite block showing the Ten Commandments even when ordered to do so. The christian folks immediately went ballistic. What if that judge had been of the Islamic faith and had a stone sculpture showing some verses from the Koran? I can guarantee that the christian community would have done everything in its power to remove that sculpture as fast as it could as soon as it went up.
Contrary to what the right-wing christians of this country think, this country was not founded on christian principles. It was founded on the right of people to worship as they please without interference from the government. Those who came here were tired of being told how and what to worship. That also means ALL religions are treated equally and the government will not choose one over the other.
If this nation had been founded on christian principles then Roger Williams wouldn't have been run out of Massachusetts for his beliefs. In case you're wondering he was the founder of Rhode Island.
On two different occasions, several months apart, I had to call Xerox for some assistance configuring one of their multi-purpose machines. In both cases I happened to get the same guy. He was working from Nova Scotia (I believe).
He had just the barest hint of a 'Canadian' accent and it only occured on certain words. Had I not asked where he was while we were waiting for the machine to reboot I wouldn't have known he wasn't in the US.
How about not using &%@!(^ Flash in the first place! It is not needed to simply enter or use a web site.
There is a site out there (which shall remain nameless) that I had visited a few times but which now requires Flash just to enter the site. Obviously I don't go there any more.
Flash should be used for enhancement purposes. Not to gain entry.

Those aren't the wmds Rumsfeld et al were talking about. Those are shells left over from the Iran-Iraq war and around the times of the 1991 conflict. Every shell found to date has been shown to be from that time.
If those had been the weapons then Rumsfeld et al would have been shouting it from the rooftops. They aren't so that tells you something.
Iraq and Al-Qaeda cooperative ties not the case?
Correct. Iraq and Al-Qaeda did not have any substantive ties. Yes, Al-Qaeda did try to get Iraq to give support but it was Saddam himself who specifically told his henchmen not to get involved with this group. In fact, in nearly every instance that Al-Qaeda made contact in an effort to forge closer ties Iraq ignored those requests.
When the supposed Libya tie-in comes to light we shall all have to see. If there was a link then you would think the administration would be crowing about it. However, like the wmds they aren't so that tells you something.
I said from the very beginning that the administration didn't have the evidence it claimed it had simply for the fact that it never showed the supposed evidence. If you're so sure that the guy is lying and that you have proof of that lying, show it. If you don't then obviously you're the liar (not you personally).
All news organizations are the same. Even Fox which isn't really a news organization but more a tabloid show.
I can easily recall numerous occasions where Fox puts out a story and either the newsheads or the 'experts', or both, conveniently leave out facts or skew things.
Don't bother trying to claim it's the 'liberal' media which lies or spews propoganda.
At least they were willing to admit they made mistakes by not doing due diligence on suspect issues such as the yellow cake.
The same can't be said for the people who continue to insist:
a) that wmds do exist even though none have been found despite the fact they 'knew' where those weapons were
b) that Iraq and Al-Qaeda had long-standing, cooperative ties even though the investigative report clearly showed that not to be the case
If someone is willing to own up to their mistakes that speaks volumes compared to someone who keeps repeating the same falsehoods despite all the evidence to the contrary.
