The only idiot are the people, like your Russian trolls, who kept saying America was delusional when it came to the email hacks. Even your dear leader Putin said we were off our rockers.
Now the Russians admit they were doing backroom deals all along.
Hopefully those who kept saying it was nothing but lies will fully understand the depths they've sunk this country to by electing a Russian mole.
The one who is daft is you. It wasn't about the states, it was about the people not having enough information about a presidential candidate because of the lack of communication technology. The example given is perfect:
It was a compromise made toward the end of the constitutional convention in a committee, when the attendees were getting anxious to leave. The major sticking point was concern about too much democracy. The founders feared the "rabble" and what they worried about the most was that, given technology at the time, there was no way for people from South Carolina to know anything about a candidate from Delaware or vice versa.
They were concerned presidential elections would become free-for-alls among a dozen candidates representing different parts of the country and they would not be focused on the national interest, but on pleasing the constituents from their region. So the founders wanted some kind of indirect election method for the President, providing an extra layer of vetting from the "right" kind of person, but one that still featured some acknowledgement of the will of the populace. They argued about how exactly that would work on and off most of the convention, and the committee of eleven wrapped it up toward the end with the system as we know it.
"by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice."
In other words, nothing to do with the states, directly, but rather the fear a candidate could appeal to certain groups and thus, tyranny of the majority.
With today's diverse population, and as this election has shown, that tyranny exists despite the electoral college since the person who gets the majority of votes in a state gets all the state's electoral votes (except for Maine who divides its votes).
This is the only remnant from our past, enshrined in the Constitution, which needs to be changed. Not simply because of this election but because the presidential election is the only election in the entire country, at any level, where the person with the most votes may not win.
The reasons for the electoral college were clear, back in the day, but now, with near instant communication and the hordes of political ads we are subjected to every election cycle, that reason is no longer valid.
The one which was dropped because of threats to her as well as the one where other people corroborated what went on at the pedophile Epstein's place which Trump frequented.
(and even then, it's OK if you use a drone to kill a US citizen, without trial) won't qualify for impeachment.
If a person admits they're going to attack the U.S., gets involved with an organization which has vowed to attack the U.S., and has made plans to do so, killing him is the only thing to do. A trial isn't necessary since the person has already admitted to the crime.
Or are you one of those when a criminal points a gun at a cop doesn't believe the police should be able to fire back but instead should wait to be shot before firing?
Considering Trump has a December court date for his alleged rape of a 13-year old, if he is found guilt of that crime he could then be impeached once in office.
I know what you're thinking, "Yeah, sure you did." In this one particular case, I did.
Somewhere in my notes for something I'm working on I posed the question, "Why is it that gravity is a force unto itself? Why can't gravity be the result of the interaction of the other forces?"
I raised that question because no one had detected a gravity wave. Until this year (Feb 11, 2016). So now the question becomes, if gravity waves were detected, how does this discovery affect this paper? Wouldn't that "disprove" the idea and lead to gravity being the force we always thought it was?
The reason people wanted freedom and prosperity in Ukraine was because of the corruption foisted upon them by their pro-Russian "leaders". That's why Putin was so desperate to bribe Yanukovych when he saw the people of Ukraine wanted closer relations with the West. It's why Yanukovych fled into Putin's arms after he ordered his Berkut security forces to murder protestors.
That is why Putin has invaded Ukraine because the people are tired of corruption. Putin doesn't want Ukraine to prosper. He's upset that the Baltic states have had a surge of prosperity now that they are out from under the boot heel of Russia while Russia continues to sink further into the mud. He doesn't want his people to see how backwards, how poor, how far behind countries such as Latvia and Lithuania the Russian people are.
Speaking of which, considering the corruption endemic in Russia under Putin's regime it's funny to hear Russian trolls talk about corruption in other countries. When Putin decides who can and cannot run for elected office, when Putin decides to shut down independent radio, tv and newspapers, when Putin decides your business belongs to him or one of his oligarch friends, when Putin decides a political opponent should be shot dead in front of the Kremlin, now that's corruption!
Time and again we have been told private industry does things better than government. They're more efficient, less expensive and get things done more quickly.
That we are now talking about private industry over-promising and under-delivering sounds preposterous. Clearly someone has moved the commas to the wrong position. Simple artillery shells can't cost $800K. Private industry would never let that happen.
What if we just ignored them? What if we tracked and filmed them violating our airspace and simply resorted to diplomacy and coordinated sanctions when international law was broken?
Then we'd end up like Ukraine, unable to defend itself because of the corruption by people like Yanukovych who used that money for personal enrichment which allowed Russia to swoop in and steal parts of your country when all your people wanted was freedom and prosperity.
Do you want to be like Ukraine? Because that's how you get to be like Ukraine.
Drivers? I thought these people were simply sharing rides.
You mean Uber and Lyft are cab companies because you're contacting them to have one of their drivers come pick you up to take you to the destination of your choice, independent from where the driver was going? Unpossible!
30 minutes to go 170 miles you say? Amazing. It took me about 2 minutes to "recharge" so I can go 220 miles. Of course I only had to partially "recharge" so if I had spent longer, say 5 minutes, I could go >400 miles.
Why is this guy's computer networked if all he is doing is studying chess moves? Wouldn't the safest thing be to keep the program(s) on a laptop which is always in your possession or locked away?
Why must, based solely on this person's claim of being hacked, this machine be networked?
Perhaps Trump should explain why the New York State Attorney General ordered his foundation to cease operations in New York because of its illegal activities.
Not to mention the "donation" the foundation gave to the Florida State Attorney General's campaign, also illegal, which oddly made the state's investigation of Trump's fraudulent University mysteriously go away.
That's not true. According to the most recent reports Melania was here illegally.
So despite Trump's rants about illegals, he chose to marry one. Just shows how fluid Trump's principles are. Like when he defended Bill Clinton, called him a great president and called the impeachment wrong but now, suddenly everything is Bill's fault.
Or do you actually believe he deserved 51 years in jail?
He and his counsel had decided to go to trial because they believed the charges wouldn't stick. Instead of simply waiting and being shown correct, he killed himself.
Whether I believe the charges were correct or not is irrelevant. He chose not to stand by his convictions.
Of course had he chosen not to be a criminal in the first place, none of this would be relevant. But instead we'll make excuses why the police are wrong and the criminal is a saint.
False. He illegally attached his own equipment to someone else's network to intercept data and tried to hide his equipment because he knew he wasn't allowed to be where he was.
Then, when caught, rather than be a man and accept that he had acted illegally, he killed himself.
Sure, they saved some money when they stiffed Russia for their gas bill, but not enough to be able to spend on frivolous things.
Considering how much money the Russian puppet Yanukovych stole from Ukraine before he fled into the arms of Russia, and how much Russia owes Ukraine for the damage it is causing by its invasion and support of the terrorists in East Ukraine, Russia is the one who is spending money on frivolous things it can't afford.
Since we now know how much money Russia is spending to support the terrorists in Ukraine, as well as its plans to try and destabilize Ukraine, it's no wonder you think Ukraine is poor for wanting to be out from under the thumb of Russian corruption.
How much would you bet that any work done to develop this is paid for by U.S. tax dollars so that it can all be funneled back to some big defense contractor?
Considering the theft Putin is perpetrating in Crimea by stealing people's property and businesses, perhaps you should be asking how many of your rubles are going into Putin's pockets and the pockets of his oligarch friends?
The only idiot are the people, like your Russian trolls, who kept saying America was delusional when it came to the email hacks. Even your dear leader Putin said we were off our rockers.

Or, in the words of a former Secretary of the Treasury, who said the president should be elected:
"by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice."

Who needs to patch a lightbulb?
Analog for the win!

Well apparently Trump and his supporters aren't high school level then.
Trump does poll well with the uneducated.
Why is this guy's computer networked if all he is doing is studying chess moves? Wouldn't the safest thing be to keep the program(s) on a laptop which is always in your possession or locked away?
Why must, based solely on this person's claim of being hacked, this machine be networked?
You mean like Trump's foundation illegally paid Trump's legal bills, his personal bills and was used as he and his daughter's personal piggy bank?
Perhaps Trump should explain why the New York State Attorney General ordered his foundation to cease operations in New York because of its illegal activities.

which for me are like a life-ruining crack addiction.
Yes, trying to overcome the blatant cheating coded into his games does make life difficult.
Suckers

Touche! (because we can't do real characters on /.)
Analog will almost always dominate digital.
Light switches (okay, mechanical), tea kettles, thermostats, car transmissions, door locks, musical recordings, a veritable smorgasbord of items.
No doubt lots of Trump votes will magically become Clinton votes.
Funny, the reality of the situation is votes for Clinton are already being flipped to Trump.
Not to mention Trump supporters committing voter fraud.
Sure, they saved some money when they stiffed Russia for their gas bill, but not enough to be able to spend on frivolous things.

Then again, with the continuing stream of dead Russian soldiers leaving Ukraine, Putin is having to dig deep to pay out death benefits to the families. Speaking of digging deep, how about all those unmarked graves of dead Russian soldiers sprinkled about Ukraine? How much to you think that's costing Putin?
How much would you bet that any work done to develop this is paid for by U.S. tax dollars so that it can all be funneled back to some big defense contractor?
Considering the theft Putin is perpetrating in Crimea by stealing people's property and businesses, perhaps you should be asking how many of your rubles are going into Putin's pockets and the pockets of his oligarch friends?
