If these expensive "specialist" applications only run on Windows XP SP1 then they are not worth it. Whoever purchased high-priced software with such a ridiculous restriction made a big mistake.
My Soylent UID is even lower than my Slashdot one:-)
Soylent looks great TBH. I can actually see myself switching over if Slashdot's owners are determined to ruin all that is good about their web site with a crappy "modern looking" redesign.
Many people are becoming aware about the degree to which we have allowed our right to privacy to be eroded by adopting new technologies. Google Glass is an unnecessary toy which would facilitate a further erosion of our privacy. This has nothing to do with jealousy.
Of course. They are free to enforce their employer's policies or lose their job. You think someone should risk losing their job to appease some idiot who won't give up his shiny gadget for a few minutes?
We celebrated the defeat of Communism when the Iron Curtain came down. We are now learning that the winning side of that conflict is no more benign than the losing side.

I like Vim because it integrates well with Linux, Solaris and Windows environments and has great syntax highlighting (by default!) for languages associated with the Cadence IC design tools we use at work (i.e. Skill and DIVA).
On *nix systems I like to compile it myself using Motif. Gives a common appearance across all the systems I use that resembles the Windows GUI.
If Redhat are not happy with organizations like CentOS benefiting from the contributions they make to GPL protected software they have a simple solution: stop distributing Linux and write their own proprietary Unix clone from scratch. If they choose not to do so CentOS are free to build and distribute their Redhat based distro and users - commercial or otherwise - are free to use it as they wish,
I am also running Vista. I see no reason to spend money and time upgrading to Window 7. I was pleased to dump XP - I always found Luna unbearably ugly.
Not that I care about IE, of course. I am more than happy running Firefox.
We use this at work. We have a collection of fast servers which run complex semiconductor simulation jobs that can take days to complete. The engineers start these in an NX session then detach. They can subsequently re-attach to check the progress of this work from any site or by connecting into the company network from home via VPN. The performance of NX is acceptable for the graphical applications which display and manipulate the data.
I bought a Samsung i7500 last October that came with Android 1.5. The most recent update? Android 1.5. Samsung don't give a shit. Last product I will ever buy from them. Last time I will have an o2 mobile phone contract.
Me too. I am baffled that this seems not to be the norm for right handed people. It is not as if holding a phone to your ear requires a lot of manual dexterity. The other things I might be doing whilst on the phone (taking notes, clicking a mouse, peeling a banana, cooking dinner) do so I always hold my phone in my left hand.
My Centro will likely be replaced by either a Palm Pre or something running Android. I am leaning towards the latter as I am now hosting my domain on Google's servers. It seems likely there will be a number of interesting Android devices from many manufacturers hitting stores this year.
The Pre is Palm's last throw of the dice and if it doesn't work out you are left with fancy, expensive kit and no company to support it.
My daughter (7) spends many hours on Supertux and Flash games on the web but has plenty of time for other stuff. She loves card games, board games (Monopoly, Cluedo), playing on her bike or scooter and we got a Scalextric set for Christmas.
Toys don't need to be hi-tech to compete - just challenging and fun.

But the NSA has access to all the data Google have on you and the NSA do have SWAT teams ready to smash down your door at 3am.
I live in Japan. I have a Sony Xperia. iPhones are locked-down, corporate, American shit.

Don't use paper money.
Funded by whom? I am happy to be anti-Google Glass for nothing.

The USA is a rogue state. I have no desire to visit there and wish to limit its influence on my life to a minimum.
My commiserations to the citizens of the USA who have to endure its Orwellian regime and unfair, capitalist system.
The Democratic Party is an extreme, right-wing political movement. Not much different from the Republican Party,

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
It will be brown. Nobody will want to buy a brown cellphone.

They should focus on RPN calculators. In DayGlo colours to attract the youth market.

You obviously don't use openSUSE who broke Evolution Palm syncing with 11.0 and left it broken in 11.1.
