Not in upstate NY. There were lines at every store. Every single store was sold out by midnight before launch. People were showing up at the Circuit City where I was in line after they had been turned away at six stores because of the long lines there already.
Just when Microsoft manages to catch up to the iPod's current 2-year-old design, the iPod is going to move to something totally new. I'm sure the iPod will be updated sometime this year to look much more like the iPhone with a large, wide screen.
Two months ago I downloaded more than 100GB of data on my standard consumer 5Mbps cable connection from Time Warner/RoadRunner.
The month after my download speed increased from 5 to 10Mbps (and my upload from 384Kbps to 1Mbps) for no apparent reason other than the fact that Time Warner apparently rocks.
He's saying that the airliner and the flaming ball of space debris occupied the same volume in space 30 seconds apart from each other.
Had the airliner been exactly 30 seconds (or whatever) ahead of schedule, we would be reading about an airliner that got shot down by what appears to be a missile.
I have the critically acclaimed Oppo 971HD (this upconverting player got the higest score ever on Secrets of Home Theater's objective DVD player tests) on my 50" 720p plasma.
Upconverted DVD vs 720p is night and day. The difference is staggering. The difference between a true 720p image and an upconverted 480i image is substantial.
Comparatively, the difference between 720p and 1080p on a display 50" or smaller is much, much less dramatic. It can even be hard to tell in many cases, especially once you get to 42" or smaller.
You're *completely* ignoring calories that are burnt when not exercising.
Exercising regularly forces your body to burn significantly more calories during rest than you would without exercise.
This is how I was able to lose 10 lbs a month by subtracting a mere 500 calories a day from my diet and exercising. Your formulas would basically make this impossible.
That is pretty funny, but remember that most rooms that are "lecture rooms" are stadium-style rooms meant to hold lots of people. It's easy to push something off a desk and have it fall two meters.
They are not fully bright immediately. They take several seconds to warm up to full brightness. It's noticeable. There's a slight delay between flipping the switch and any light at all coming out as well.
They also dim over time rather quickly. 8 years with a "100W equivalent" CFL bulb means 6 months of 100W equivalence, 2.5 years of 75W equivalence, and 5 years of 60W equivalence.
Furthermore, the color of every CFL on the market sucks compared to a GE Reveal bulb. Full spectrum light output just cannot compare with the peaky light output of a CFL.

HALO was a killer app for the XBox. Halo 2 was the sequel on the same machine. It sold five million copies.
HALO 2 sold *seven million* copies.
There are already 10 million XBox 360s out there. This game will certainly sell more.
HALO 3 is going to be huge.
Because Halo 3 will probably be one of the most popular games ever released - and this site is crawling with gamers.
All current standalone HD DVD and Blu-Ray players are firmware updateable via CD.
You download the firmware update, burn it to a CD, and go. Or they mail you one, like Toshiba did with the numerous updates they've released.
There's nothing wrong with copying.
I'm talking about the *target technology* essentially already existing somewhere. That's much easier than developing totally new technologies.
It's a lot easier to make technological gains when you're essentially trying to copy the technologies already in use in other parts of the world.

Copyright doesn't depend on any kind of license agreement.
If I find a copy of a book, I can't distribute copies of it. If I find a CD, I can't distribute copies of the CD.
Copyright is coded into law and does not depend on any sort of contract.
Who modded this interesting??

Because you signed a contract saying that you're not allowed to share those resources.
Probably never.
Who the fuck is Thompson? I've never even heard of them, much less seen any of their routers.
I don't think that this is the strategy you use when you want to take on Linksys/Cisco, Netgear, and D-Link.

Microsoft sells XBox 360s, which compete directly with PS3s.
Microsoft does *not* sell PCs, which compete directly with Macs.
Yes.
The C in our sugars ultimately comes from the CO2 taken in by plants and metabolized with the aid of solar power.
CO2 -> plants -> sugars [-> optional intermediary step such as a cow] -> humans -> CO2

Well, of course.

With the way that the internet was brought to its knees that day, Slashdot was the most reliable, up-to-the-minute source of information I could find.
OK, I'll try not to do it again.
Where?
Here?
You know, AT is a popular site, especially among slashdot readers.
I read the article before it appeared here. Obviously someone else did because they posted it to slashdot.
I'm not saying the OP read the article, but this article appeared on Ars Technica before it appeared here. This isn't some story that slashdot broke.
... What does ethanol have to do with natural gas?
Yeah, but you deal with it over a few months.. not several years.

Bringing the total number of people with the implant to 888?
:>
Perhaps I don't get the joke
