  1. Sexual Harassment on Politically Incorrect Observations About Human Nature · · Score: 1

I was recently informed too by a guy really anxious to use "RTFA" on me. What's the worst that can happen if you want to print low on ink? It's not like flying a plane low on fuel.. or is it? Will a printer burst into flames when it runs out of ink mid-job?

  4. inheriting past problems on USAF Developing New "SR-72" Supersonic Spy? · · Score: 1

This could exacerbate a problem with the SR-71 as far as friction goes. Like with the Concorde, the SR-71 would expand due to the heat from the friction. This would cause it to leak fuel while sitting on the ground and it would have to refuel after take off and heating up. So you have an aircraft in the works that'll go almost twice as fast as its predecessor, so the plane will only expand more and that could lead to more leaking fuel while on the ground. Does the government get a discount on petroleum? It just sounds like a concern to me of wasting fuel.

  9. Pay vs. Work Ethic and Skill on Dismantling the Myth of IT Being a Dead-End Career · · Score: 1
It comes down to the subject. I was paid a very meager $12/hr (but the number of hours offset it a little) and helped research, design, and implement some superior advances at my last company. The pay was shit, but it didn't stop me: my image is more important than the money I felt I should've made for my contributions.

Institutions that offer IT training do turn out subpar students. Then there's just hiring the wrong people: you don't hire a 20-year programming veteran who can setup his own home wifi LAN to run an IT department. Less than half of the IT professionals I know I'd consider competent.

    Cases in point:
    • "We'll put third-party firmware on a Linksys WRT54G and it'll be a managed switch."
    • "A Dell Poweredge, or any 'server', is just a company's scheme to get you to pay more money for a platform. We'll buy their desktops and put Windows 2003 on them."
    • "Tape drives are far superior to NAT hard disks."

I've gotten of IT and computers, albeit I still enjoy developing OSS, and going into medicine. It's hard work that pays more and has more demand.

That's the mentality you deal with. I had a friend who was suspended for 2 weeks. Some other guy attacked him over a parking space mix up (boo-damn-hoo). My friend didn't even throw a punch, he just held the guy against the wall until a dean broke them up. Then there was the friend who said "There's a lot of mexicans on that side of town." He was expelled under some hate and racial guideline. HIS MOTHER IS MEXICAN AND GREW UP ON THAT SIDE OF TOWN! I don't have kids, but I fear for anyone who does and they're in public school. Increase heat causes the humidity to rise. Water vapor typically has a cooling effect, yes? Think about the Island Effect. The problems you run into with high humidity and temperature comes to osmosis. In dryer environments, you sweat and the moisture immediately evaporates off your skin due to the low moisture in the air. When this is happening, your body is regulating its own temperature very well. In humid environments, say Key West, I'll sweat and sweat and the moisture just sticks to me and my shirt. As a result, it's hotter than hell outside always.

I actually found it written on a scroll 5 trillion years old in a garbage can with etched symbols which indicate it came from the center of the universe. No, really! I think they were on CNN last week. Instead of just storing pollution, why not continue the search for cleaner energy?
