Nevertheless: jeebus, that's an assload of calories. And you believe some people (EMTs, construction workers, cops, etc.) eat that almost daily? This is all irrelevant, but I like poking fun at McDonalds.:)
"McDonalds burger patties are made from truckers' armpits."
damn, I haven't been to McDonalds in so long, I can't even remember what's on the menu besides the big mac.
"I'll have a Big Mac combo. Supersized."
"What would you like to drink?"
"Diet coke."
I would certainly feel guilty and lie. Really: you find a legendary animal and the only way you can console yourself is to kill it? Give me a damn break.
I'm a linux user. I use it to develop software and when windows is absolutely farked, it's always nice to have an alternative to boot to. Maybe I'm the 1%. Am I alone here?
I bought a Dell because I have a good line of credit, I got it through my corporate rep that I order from all the time for my company, and when it breaks my rep sends a guy out with the parts to fix it. No big deal, it's really not a bad service these guys offer.
Not only that, but retail can beat the hell out of anyone who tries to buy the latest stuff for the computer they're building. I'm sure if you look around enough, you could find some really cheap components, however I work full time, take way more than fulltime credit hours per semester, and I just lack the time. Even if I did spend more money, I'd be happy to just so I can go out on my boat while Dell builds the damn thing.
...rarely and when I do they have my money for as long as it takes me to read the email notice and transfer it to my checking account. Here's a problem with Paypal that anyone should recognize: do you see an FDIC notice on their site? They're not a bank. You pay a company to hold on to your money. And by their terms of agreement, if you read them, they can hold your money for any reason. They set no restriction for themselves - if they need to pay their electric bill, they can freeze your account and borrow/take the money.
I bought ESPN 2k5 last year mainly because people kept bugging me to play it online, but I had a blast (and still do when I'm bored and need to feed football fever) with it in single player.
I knew it would suck for consumers when EA got the NFL exclusive. But what can I say other than "don't buy it"? Honestly, I've never been impressed by an EA sports game.
Sailors don't navigate with the stars anymore? I've seen hundreds of navigation maps that say "DO NOT RELY ON ONE SOUL METHOD OF NAVIGATION." GPS maybe one method I can always use, then a compass and stars could be another.
Yeah, last I checked, the majority of the people are using Microsoft Windows. Majority != everyone. That article was pretty funny. It was like reading a coroner report written by a diesel mechanic. The guy's never used linux and is an expert on why it sucks? Come on.
They make it sound like he got the intellectual rights transfered just in time. I remember reading Accidental Millionaire (a good story about the history of Apple Computers, Jobs being the Accidental Millionaire there) where Wozniak had to keep a lot of his development a secret from HP (think it was HP) or they'd immediately get rights to it. So, I'd assume the Gentoo guy made a priority on protecting such a serious accomplishment.
Congrats to PHP for its success, but I'm one of those who doesn't get it.
I tried PHP, but I didn't feel it gave me the rigid OO structure and sophisticated APIs I get from Java, JSPs & Servlets.
Some people just can't break away from declaring and typing variables. I agree, it isn't normal and makes me feel like everything I write in PHP is sloppy, but I still get the language.
Isn't this a fantasy film? I sit down at any movie like I'd sit down at any James Bond movie: I "turn off" all rationalization, because I'll enjoy it more that way.
Apparently Microsoft still uses frames. Like many things in web design: if you use frames appropriately you can minimize problems. Think in terms of filling a page up with GIF animation. Keep it simple when you use those; otherwise I'll get seasick and puke on my keyboard.
I do audio engineering, so you're right on with the concept. Here's an audio lesson: I have a Crown Macro-Tech 5002vs amp. At 8ohms it outputs 1300 watts; 4ohms, 2000 watts; 2ohms, 2500 watts. If it's bridged: 8ohms, 4000watts; 4ohms, 5000 watts.
So yeah, if you use headphones with a lower resistance, you're going to spend extra juice from the battery to power them. Unless they manage to restrict how much is going out to the headphones.
Dvorak is an idiot. If you listen to him, he'll steal your soul with unfounded speculation. He swears it all to be fact, while he's only conjured it out of his own arse.
hmm... anyone for finding bluetooth vulnerabilities??? I like Bluetooth, but it seems everytime some product starts using it some yahoo has to pelt it with viruses. Can't we all just get along without this?

Think of all the confused environmentalists. You can't get rid of pollution with this thing around. It's a crime against nature maaaaaan!

Rich sport fans with million dollar yachts still throw tantrums. Someone photoshop that Steve in a diaper and bonnet; I'll give you a buck for it.

Even if it was powered by Microsoft software? I mean, come on... you do trust software from your own company, right?
So if you complain about it, they'll tell you how to get around it? Why bother hindering at all?

There is something morbidly funny about seeing a human silhouette floating in orbit.

Seems like Dvorak is always saying something will harm linux. Reading something he writes to that tune is like sticking forks in my eyes.
Yeah.

By sticking to open source software and Firefox, it's pretty easy avoid spyware. My anti-spyware software is pretty bored since I quit using IE.

I like the way this guy thinks.
A few hours? Ever consider taking a break before your metacarpals seize up like a ford engine? go outside? remember outside?
