I wouldn't care so much about the DNC if the telemarketers calling me were selling something that would even remotely generate some interest. I don't wake up each morning hoping that some random stranger calls me and signs me up for an unheard of magazine that would waste my money and bore me to death. I wouldn't mind if it would actually be something I would buy
The Content of a game is rated, not what's accessable out of the box. Technically the programmers shouldn't have left "hot coffee" in the game if they didn't want it to be found. In today's world, just about any product out on the market hiding something digital can/will be cracked eventually.
When are we going to see an independently funded research studies that will, without bias, give us realistic statistics that will benefit intelligent buying decisions for the general public when debating over classic "windows v linux" implementation?
Assigning Internet authority to the UN would not only benefit in the short term, but would have gigantic benefits in long term global communication. The benefits from a continual standardized network is beneficial beyond our recognition.
I for one don't want to end up 10 years down the road and be unable to communicate with a business client overseas because CHINANET isn't compatible with USANET1 or EURONET.
We're already going to face enough problems down the road from ridiculous program such as "the great firewall of China", and we must fight seperation of the internet into smaller, and completely pointless smaller networks.
UN standardization is critical to maintaining a healthy and unified balance in the internet for the benefit of the global economy.
Is there another codec or format in the works by any companies out there? With the rise of surround/multi-channel sound being sold now, I'm sure that there may be a need for it in the future.
HDTV is almost like a third generation of TV technologies.
Gen 0 - TV (black and white)
Gen 1 - Color
Gen 2 - Enhanced/High Definition Color
Gen 3 - ???
So tell me why we are widely adopting EDTV/HDTV as such a permanent standard when it seems more like a stepping stone or transitional stage in broadcasting?
Don't get me wrong, I think HDTV looks much better than any analog signal, or even a 480p DVD, but shouldn't we be adopting something a bit more advanced if we're going to force such a widespread acceptance?
