    If only there was some sort of process of talking to people before you hire them, and asking them some sort of questions around this issue. One day we will be able to sit down and have a little discussion with people before we just hire them of the street. When will the madness end.

    Funny how you don't actually mention that huge caveat when you talk up getting a job. Do you not think that had some impact, or are you deluded to think that your skills shine through.

    I am not saying that people without degrees aren't as skilled at computers. What I am saying is that this is one of the hardest things to get across, to non-technical people. So they go interview by the numbers.

    Bullshit, speeders always say this. It is never their fault, they were caught out by the system.

    Yes, it is funny that the speed limit drops when you enter a town. Why do they do that? Obviously a deliberate attempt to catch speeders, nothing to do with safety in the town.

    It is not always the case for hardware. Intel chips would often have part of the hardware disabled, because it is cheaper to make one type of chip than two (the 386sx/dx, 486sx,dx, etc...) Cameras as well, can come with hardware that is not supported by the version of software installed, thus disabling part of it.

    Don't be idiotic. Microsoft and HP have a long history of working together, they have both made loads of promises to each other and kept them. Microsoft has made HP billions of dollars, and vice versa.

    An idiotic statement, expecting them to drop Microsoft.

    What they could do, is spend more money improving Linux support, ensuring all their hardware works with Linux. This would hurt microsoft. They could even spend money on improving Linux in other ways, looking at using it in other areas (ipaq, etc...).

    It would be the equivalent of a car company coming out with a new car, that while better in every way, wouldn't run on normal roads.

    Their products will be more expensive now, compared to competitors. Consumers weren't hurt by this, competitors were, and companies were. It is not always about you.
