For all the obvious reasons.
You took what he said far too seriously. Imagine a lounge room without a computer, where you can't watch 24 hours of movies in a row, without haveing to, shock, get up every two hours.
It it didn't scan your email, how would it check for viruses, or even allow you to search your email, so clearly it does. Your problem might be that Google then uses that scan to provide the before mentioned services, as well as targetted advertising, which consists of nothing more than picking out keywords.
Ha ha ha. Sweden managed to stay out of World War 2, by working with the Germans, continuily supplying and buying from them, for the entire war. This is not something to be bragged about. They were quite happy to ignore the problems with the Nazi regime, and even allowed German troops to move through Sweden.
No, because it isn't true, especially when you start changing the defintion of terrorists (maybe changeing is too strong a word?). After all, there are a whole range of people who can be said to terrorise someone.
Wow, comparing Toshiba and Sony, and have Toshiba coming on top is high praise indeed. Just like how getting stabbed in the guts is slightly better than getting stabbed in the chest.
Oh, agreed 100%. What is the deal with road signs in this country?
Another thing that gets me, the round green means you can turn, and they use an arrow to go straight. So often you get a round green meaning turn, and a red arrow so you can't go straight - does this make sense to anyone at all?
Where I am from, you have the round green to go forward or turn, unless there is a red arrow.
No, a lot of people don't give a damn. But they don't give a damn so much, that they didn't even bother clicking the link to this story, unlike people who don't give a damn, but really feel the need for everybody to know that, for some reason.
Really? I don't know when you last read slashdot, but I have seen lots of criticism for both Apple, Firefox, and even Linux, about half of it by fanboys such as yourself.
PS. Most of us here do hate Microsoft, and will make any attempt to descredit them, especially for reasable issues like this one. Microsoft are the only major operating system to employ such draconian measures as WGA, so we will laugh and point when it stuff up. Maybe we all like Slashdot, as it has been for years, and it is you who should find somewhere to complain to...there are plenty of pro-microsoft sites out there.
In the technology field, Bill has held us all back here for many years, caused us all loads of problems. What has Rupert done? Sure he holds sway over a lot of dodgy networks, but would they be any more fair or impartial if some over jokes had control over them?
I have had the D420 for work, for the last year. It is ok, compared to the other dells I have seen around, they even seem to have spent some time on the design of it, but I always enjoy going back home to my IBM T42. There is simply no comparison. The keyboard is miles better, the T42 looks better even thought it is 3 years older. And oddly enough, even thought my D420 is dual core with more memory, isn't as snappy as my old T42.
Or, as beautiful as every other thinkpad, depending on your taste.
Personally, you can take those grey shells that Dell, Toshiba and Sony pump out and shove them - they have never had any design done on them at all, clearly.
The transaction isn't really over until the buyer is happy. The buyer can pay, receive the goods, and still not be happy - maybe the goods were not as described or borken, maybe the buyer is trying to scam someone?
Only a ****** like you, who has never sold anything in their lives, would propose such a stupid solution.
There are 1000s of scammer/deadbeat/etc accounts, there is no way to keep track of them all. A scammer will use an account for a week, then start using another account. By the time you can tell it has been scammed, they have moved on, so there is no point in doing this.
You are an idiot. Sellers have to deal with the same sort of problems. Sure, if you are only a buyer, you want all the protection for buyers, but as someone who does both, I can see the importance of a balanced system. As a buyer, you would probably be happy if the goods were sent for you to inspect them, before they were paid for...sure, this sounds like a great idea, for buyers, but not for sellers.
Well, there are two arguments to this. One is that you agreed to but at the said price, why should someone give you a discount after you have already agreed to buy them. This doesn't happen in the real world. You don't buy something from a shop, then give them a ring when you get home and ask for a discount. And postage costs isn't just for the item postage, you have to include packaging, and travelling to the post office, and taking time of work.
Diamons aren't rare, only the stupid really believe this - why do you think diamonds are rare, because they are marketed to you as such. Diamonds are carefully controlled, so they a huge amount don't flood the market, but that doesn't make them rare.
This all sounds nice, and we all wish what you just said is true, but only a fool would discount the effect that Microsoft has on the industry at large. Most companies out there, are ALL microsoft shops - they won't even consider anything else. Most people out there don't give a damn about anything else, except their core business, and it ain't IT. Sure, there are a bunch of smart people out there who stay away from Microsoft as much as possible (and these people were aound 20 years ago), but they work in Universities or a few small businesses. This is the fact. Microsofts hold is great and legendary.
YOu make a good point, but consider this: would washington be better of without Microsoft rather than with? I guarantee you not. There would be a lot less people earning high wages, and they all pay taxes. Washington does pretty well out of Microsoft as it is.
There has always been an argument against corporations paying taxes.
Just as no one has a fear of living next to a murderer, until they start, you know, murdering people.
People fear Monopolies rightly. The Soviet Union was a monopoly. China used to be a monopoly, but is less so. People fear monopolies becuase if you don't like them, there is nothing you can do, you can't change who you use, because there is no one else.

I think you mean they couldn't care less. If they could care less, well, that doesn't really mean anything.

If only all this hardware followed some sort of spec... surely that would make things easier.
Ironic, one of the greatest abusers of standards today, being bitten on the ass because of non-standards compliance.

Look mate, it is very simple. There are 3 types of people in the world, those that can count, and those that can't.
I have had the D420 for work, for the last year. Ha,ha,ha,ha....
Injokes are great.
I hope to have one, one day.

There are other ways to be a bad buyer. You can claim that the item never arrived, or that the item arrived broken, when it was sent working.

Should be ready in about 25 years, according to one article I read.
Don't cancel your travel plans just yet.
Did you know you can travel from London to Sydney on a bus, only takes about 4 months.
