Like I said I don't think you realise how much Chinese goods are ingrained into your culture. I am not talking about direct sources (eg. Walmart makes up 4% of Chinas exports)

    For example.
    - China makes 90% of all the worlds toys.
    - All electrical goods are made in china or contain parts made in china.
    - Large majority of clothes are made in China.
    - Quite a few countries outsource to China even though they claim made in that country.
    - Even other Country Branded items are made in China. For example Timberlake clothing is a US owned company but all the stuff is made in China.
    - Other examples, Sony PS2/PSP, Nindento DS, PCs, etc.
    - Some things that China exports US companies have given up producing.

So a boycott would be for the most part be pointless.

Of course he doesn't. TBH the easiest way would be to post on a webboard that has a lot of innocent traffic, or on the USENET. Heck even just play an online game (MMORPG) and say something like your looking for +3 Orc slaying knife for two gold pieces.

This method of scanning email headers doesn't solve the issue. All combatants must realise they are being spied on.

Funny you should mention that. I recall a US government department set up just after 9/11 which one of the things it would be working on was a handheld device that could translate from English to Arabic on the fly.

"Why should third parties pump resources into PSP development if their title has to compete against UMD movies, mp3s, uploaded MPGs and (to a lesser but still decent extent) homebrew apps for a PSP owner's attention?"

Your argument makes absolutly no sense whatsoever. It is like saying why should a company bother making games for the games consoles because you can watch DVD's, play music and play games on them. Heck you can even just watch TV.

DS is cheap because its a cheap system. they get you on the extras. For example you have to pay extra to get access to the internet. Where as the PSP is internet ready. PSP hooks up to a PC straight off while the DS again you have to pay extra for. Heck my PSP even recharges off my computer.

I watch/listened streamed video/audio on my PSP while in the house (Saves having to sit at the PC) and use it for reading (easier to read sites then using my PDA). It supports podcasting.

My local store now rents the UMDs in the same way as renting videos and the whole sony collection of movies/TV shows are available. Even then if I want to watch something for a journey and I don't have on UMD I just rip to memory card.

DS on the other hand is a games console, nothing more. Sure you can buy stuff to try to emulate the same fields as the PSP but the screen/audio just don't compare. If all you are interested in is playing games then go for the DS.

    >Basically Sony thinks that people want a (3rd rate) MP3 player

It plays MP3. granted its no IPOD but 2nd Rate DVD player? UMD is DVD quality with digital audio. Batteries will generally last (on mine) 4-6 hours. Even so a 1-2GB memory card will get you 1-2 movies or a few TV shows to watch.

Sorry but the DS wins on being cheap and games machine only. It is not an entertainment system.
