Something to add regarding your post. They are also porting the Domino Designer over to Workplace platform as well. This means that workplace applications can be built with engineers who have Appdev skills in Domino. I got to play with it and its pretty nice and looks + feels 99% the same as designer.
If the developers are no longer coding for that version of windows then yes they will more then likely not upgrade to Vista.
MS on the other hand might have a vested interest in ensuring that WorkPlace works with Vista so that they can keep some customers on the newer operating system.
If Vista is supported some developers may have machines with Vista and it is likely support would have some also but may become the minor platform to check on rather then the major.
IBM have been working for the last couple of years to ensure all thier applications will have a linux version. It is also a great selling point for Workplace when they have it working across all of IBM. If that doesn't show it will scale nothing will.
Ahh this old chestnut again. Look if you are only using Domino for Email and Calendar then you are wasting your money. If on the other hand you are using it for workflow/collaboration/groupware type applications then it does the job perfectly.
R7 will even hook into DB2 and give you a domino front end to DB2 or a DB2 front end to Domino.
Generally the poor coded applications in Domino tend to give Domino the blame. I have seen some sweet applications made in Domino and then I have seen some doozies. Doesn't mean Domino is the problem, peoples perceived skills using the application is.
In eve for farming the best way to make money is by mining. As miners are openly hunted if they don't have the firepower to protect them rather then pay someone to protect them instead they mine in high security areas. The problems with this is that asteriods are limited resources, so it can be quite normal to log in to find the system you have started in as a newbie to be mined to death.
Why would anyone buy gold in COH???
Once you hit level 32-34 (depending on AT) money becomes meaningless. You can easily make millions after that point.
The only thing worth of any value in COH is Hami-O's (rare powerup drops from a giant jelly). Even then couldn't see anyone paying for those either.
Not calling you a liar but can you back up your assertions with some sources? The reason I ask is another 5 point poster has already posted details and appear to be completly opposite to what you are saying.
I had a same experience. Just when the HLS laws were coming in I had moved back to Ireland and left about 20k in cash in the US. Asked the bank to close up the account and wire it and they were a bit reluctant because they told me that they had fill out details for HLS and it would be easier to send a cheque. For that much money I wasn't willing to trust the postal service.
>Do you think that Franklin wouldn't have agreed to temporary wartime restrictions
But then he probably never thought to say "Hey some moron is going to declare a war on something that can't ever end". Examples. War on Drugs, War on Terror.
>And yet, here you are, criticizing him on Slashdot. And fancy that, you're not in prison.
Funny because there have been recorded instances of people doing that in a more public (non-tech real world publication) and then finding thier careers are pretty much over. Most recent is an earlier/. post linking to someone being charged with sedition.
Only reason people are taking shots at him now is because his rating is so low. Before Kathrina happened most of the US media outlets had no backbone.
I Don't see how that could hurt your campaign to be honest. More likely they could tack on a rider bill called "Free kittens to orphans" then say something like "[Insert Senator Name] hates kittens and orphans"
In the case of the Marvel suit basically Marvel employees logged into COH and then made copies of famous heroes and then claimed that COH were infringing trademarks. This isn't actually true of course. The system allows you to build pretty complex heroes (although Hulk doesn't require much thought). It got thrown out because of that.
Although COH if you do break copyright/trademarks or impersonate a real person they blank your character and give it a genericHero12345 name. The only exception to this rule I ever saw was the numerous Vote Bush type avatars that were spamming popular areas in the game during the previous elections. Oddly enough the Kerry type avatars didn't survive very long.
Some intresting things that may come out of this. 1. COH Terms of Service state that if you create a character in COH, then they own all rights to it (providing it is not copying someone elses work to begin with). 2. Marvel have already said there won't be any Batmen/spidermen/etc copies in thier game and they would be more likely to spammed with peoples favorite hero then COH would. I would suspect Marvel to be more pedantic in this regards.
Sorry I missed the bit where it said SWT sucked. All it reads is comparing the two technologies and telling you where one is better then the other in what situation. Unlike the Poster I was replying to which was trying to state that SWT was full out rubbish but not having anything to support that claim.
Yes I read the article. Its a pile of crap as articles go. First up it claims that issues with the UI based on only two applications. It doesn't go into details what those UI related issues are, but as someone has pointed out one of the apps isn't that great to begin with on a mac. Eclipse is probably one of the best examples of how SWT works. I am also using Workplace 2.6 Beta (which can render SWT via HTTP I might add) and it is on par with most windows apps.
Limited Functionality? He doesn't detail in anyway how it is limited in relation to Swing. All he details is coding differences. Likewise the only thing he can come up with is that you can't put an image + text on a button at the same time.
sorry but the article is airless bamf. Something a bit better then "I use both Eclipse and a Swing-based text editor, Eclipse is far slower than the Swing application. There, proof that SWT is slow." please.
What a pile of FUD. Like says that a myth that SWT is faster then Swing, but when you read it you find he hasn't proven it at all.
I use SWT from day to day. Absolutly no problem. The only thing I might agree with the article is that SWT can be hard to learn. However just get swt designer http://www.swt-designer.com/ . Even an idiot could design GUI from that. But hey designing good GUI is hard regardless of the API used.
>seems to have been a stopgap measure put in to block some idiot and reversed once he got bored and went away.
TBH reminds me of that old joke where this guy nearly dies falling off cliff. He asks the locals why they don't put a warning sign up, they say "Ahh sure we did but then no accidents were happening so we didn't see the need for the sign anymore".
Thats how I read it. So what we basically need is some huge interdimenionsal squid to be teleported into a large populated city, killing nearly everyone and the whole world will be united (at least until people read Rorschach's Journal).
I wonder how they managed to submit a patent? Don't the patent office have rules that all perpetual motion machines need to be supplied as working models before the patent would be accepted?
A GM is basically a support person who you page when things go horribly wrong in the game that normal mechanics can't fix. A lot of what he posted doesn't relate to them at all but to other areas of the game (eg. Events people, Developers, etc) .
For example in 99.99% of all MMOGs step 1 where a GM organizes an event normally means that 100's of players get slaughtered for the GMs pleasure. Fun for the first 1-2 times.

RF Online. I am so sorry I did. (and I can't get a refund after using the key).
Other then that BF2 + Special forces (because my other disk was stolen).
TBH I have stopped buying games. I have budget for 2 MMO games. At the moment its COV. But looking for another to play as well.
>There's no way that IBM can convert to Linux until it has ported Lotus Notes.
IBM Workplace has Notes client plugin. 2.6 is nice and fast too.

Not sure why you are marked as funny, as this is what the space program did before.

I'm sure I'm on file somewhere.
I know you were marked as funny but there are actually people in real life who currently believe this.

Which is why you will never see a bill being passed that makes fun of the Simpsons I bet! :v

First I have heard of that. Where did you get that information from?
He should of just blew some CIA operatives cover. He would be guaranteed not to be charged that way.
Actually it wasn't a cheap knockoff of either.
