Technically my dad build it, but I helped him. I was 8 years old at the time. it could lob small lawnmower engines. and once without his knowledge, we used it to destroy a tree fort some other kids built.
Yes, but then you need a pc on serving it up. Hardly "seamless". XBMC means any format video no matter where it is. I keep all the kids video they watch over a gazzillion times right on the XBox. Not knocking the XB360. I just use XBox's XBMC more beacause it is easier. If someone make a mods chip that'll let me run software much the same way the Xbox does, I'll be 1st in line to get it (the mod chip. I already have an xb360). Mind you, we're only talking about the video capabilities. I'm ignoring the other things XBMC (and a hack xbox in general) can do.
1.6 is what I have now. I'm using the Apple VII mode chip which goes for about $20. Not sure what you're talking about AFA installation services. If you can use a browser, you can get XBMC. start here www.xboxscene.com.
Maybe I'm using a newer version or maybe you haven't used XBMC in a while, but how you describe media is how I'd describe XBMC. XBMC IS the dash on my xbox.
You downplay the XVid and Divx support, yet call the experience more seamless than XBMC? Being a user of both, I'd have to the XBMC experience superior, just for that reason. XBMC will play "anything" and being a media player is just the tip of the iceberg for it.
I have a 57" Sony HDTV I bought in 2002. With the XBOX (my only device that can output above 480p) I've found in XBox media centre:
480p - just right. good font size crisp n clear
720p - not bad, but I can't read the fonts that XBMC pumps out
1080i - looks like shite.
And I would respond to your troll, but I'm busy play the 200 or so free xbox games on my modded xbox and playing against others on Xlink kai over the net, and listening to ogg files and watching xvid movies and running python proggies with XB scripts and DS Linux, and playing every console game ever made before 1995, and playing endless supply of mame arcade titles and infringing copyright and waiting for the XB360 to be as mod-able as the original xbox.....:(
And that $20 that can be used towards used dvds/games is about $2 in cost, which is what EB would have paid for. EB is the devil. Support private game shops!
I agree with parent. Add to that, when I can mod an XBOX360 like an original xbox (i.e. copy and run games off of the HD, run emulators, XB Scripts, Other community made software etc.), I'll be getting an Xbox too. Make what you will of that.
Bally AstroCADE too. Well what do ya know. The AstroCAde is finally good for something!
make a cheaper MAC mini included with video out options and a media centre interface and a controller.
Keep the F**KING devs in the basement!
1200 units at one location? Now that's a launch!

consider that the price of getting a better media centre if you can't do it yourself. $70 CDN around here (Waterloo)

That's so obvious you should patent it!
When a modchip that allows true XBMC running on the 360, you'll get a 0.0 attach rate out of me...
for the record, the original xbox has some HD games... http://www.hdtvarcade.com/hdtvforum/index.php?auto com=custom&page=xboxa

Not really an XB360 now, is it?

Sally Bevilacqua - for bring in bagels for the whole dev team on the 1st Monday of every month. Thanks Sally! You're a peach!
If we ignore "official" for a while, modded Xboxen with morrowind can play almost any community made mod for the morrowind PC version. http://forums.xbox-scene.com/lofiversion/index.php /t369851.html
Yet another great reason to mod you xbox...
