    ^^^ If I had mod points. Had the same experience. I thought it was funny in a "can you believe this?" way at first, but was clearly in the realm of anger by the time the movie started. It 30 minutes in my case.

    Every Indian developer I've hired since 1986 when I founded a company that did DBase apps has been horrifically under qualified despite great lies on their resumes.

    I think the problem is with the hiring manager that isn't capable of properly vetting candidates.

    Well I can god damm tell you that Obama ordering the FBI not to ever use the term "radical Muslim" didn't help make terrorism go away.

    It also didn't hurt. Do you think when it comes to the feet to the ground anti-terror operations, the working name you give the enemy matters?

    If I had to guess he's probably trying to avoid alienating moderate Muslims. Whether or you agree with that, it doesn't sound like a crazy left-wing act to me. The fact that you are so bent out of shape about it would lead me to believe you have some other axe to grind.

    You're both 'tards for defining your world as 2 extremes. Liberalism (e.g.) is a broad idea, and the fact that a very, very small subset of (loud) college "kids" do things in the name of liberalism isn't a reflection on classic liberal values.

    Have the guts to call good things good, and bad things bad and not paint yourself all the same color. If you find yourself mysteriously agreeing with ALL or most of the points of your tribe, really take a deep look and see what's motivating you.

    That's the theory, yet every employer I've worked for (tech) has decided to let poor performers hang on until a larger "downsizing". For the most part I don't see people get fired in tech.

    The thing that struck home is a survey of STEM new grads, that shows a ~0.7 disparity as well. Seems like that's the most apples to apples comparison there could be, before things like family and work home balance start to factor in.

    That'd be fine, except it's extremely hard, labor intensive, and legally risky to "fire" someone. I'm not describing the way it should be, only the way it is.

    You are correct that the sun is not infinite, but in relation to humans and their timescales, it is effectively infinite.

    Look, have fun with your conceptual arguments, but there are regions on earth that have shortages of potable, non-contaminated, fresh water. Water is infinite in the same way diamonds are infinite. You just need to be able to strip and micro filter the substrate of the earth's crust down a few hundred miles.

    Yeah, it can be depleted faster than natural processes fix. In most non-desert climates, though, that's almost literally impossible with our current agricultural practices and levels of technology. California is what happens when you try to farm land that can't support the load.

    I guess it's some product of the "fake news" that clean drinking water is a problem in so many places in the world. Duly noted.

    So what? Water is an effectively infinite global resource and it isn't ever actually consumed (i.e. lost).

    Non-contaminated fresh water is not an infinite resource in any sense of the term. Water is only an infinite resource if you also assume energy (to decontaminate and desalinate) is also an infinite resource (it isn't).

    It doesn't follow common sense that the employers would not even be able to communicate their side of the story to employees. I honestly don't know the law, but this just doesn't ring true.

    As an employee, wouldn't you want to hear both sides of the story?

    I guess you've never had a job then? Employers can say whatever they want to their employers as long as it's not harassment or discriminatory (under the law). And the employee is free to end their employment if they don't like it.
