Alternatively, a more realistic/fair situation would be to force any employer to continue paying the employee during the non-compete duration. This would be fair to the employee, and at the same time, reduce a company's desire to implement a non-compete in the first place.
I couple of months back, I picked up an unlocked GSM Pre3, and I haven't had a chance yet to really dig into which of the pre-paid companies offer good terms for smartphones for my usage pattern.
I know that Phone Scoop has a list, but it doesn't mention the 4 virtual carriers mentioned in the article summary.
I would say the consumers and small banks have won. Based on the 2008 financial mess, I think it's safe to say that having money distributed across many small banks is better than having to depend on the financial decisions of a few giant banks.
I don't think that oil prices would drop if the US ramps up production. Shell says (http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-02-10/u-s-has-capacity-to-boost-oil-production-40-hofmeister-says.html) that the US could increase production from 8 to 10 million barrels per day. I would expect OPEC, at 30 million barrels per day, would decrease production to keep oil prices stable.
If you are equating "Fair Tax" with a flat tax rate, I don't see how it would make things simpler to file taxes. I spend my entire time gathering and sorting my papers, entering all my capital gains, entering my dividends, entering my deductions, finding tax credits, etc. I spend 99.99% of my time entering numbers to calculate my Adjusted Gross Income, then TurboTax calculates the tax automatically. I would save no time if TurboTax used a different formula for calculating the tax from the adjusted income.
I have been hearing for a year now about how insurance companies can't compete across state lines, but I still fail to understand what the Republicans mean by this. For example:
Cigna is based in Pennsylvania and offers plans in 9 states (http://www.cigna.com/our_plans/individual_and_family/for_you.html).
Aetna is based in Connecticut and offers plans in all 50 states (http://www.aetna.com/members/individuals/health/help.html).
They are clearly selling across state lines, so I don't see what the Republican argument is.
They want to be one of the administrators - not the only administrator. There are many organizations that will be running databases - all flowing from a master database that the FCC controls.
I've been using myivo.com for many years for this purpose. It's a simple service that I set up on the extended family computers. The service on the remote computer stays in contact with the Myivo home page, so you can see which of the computers are running at any given moment. You connect via a Java program that runs in your browser after clicking on the appropriate computer that is listed on their homepage for your account. In addition to supporting the family computers I also use it to control my home computer from work. I had to use a browser-based method because of limitations with my firewall at work.
On a related note - I get annoyed with my browser getting squeezed in this same manner with toolbars and the row of tabs in Firefox - especially when working on my laptop. I put the tabs on the left side of the browser using extension "Tree Style Tab" to help recover some of the space. And I find that I can rearrange the toolbars to comprise just two rows.
That's interesting about the speed - I'm running in Firefox 3.5.1 and it seems snappy.
My main disappointment with it, so far, is that the music player doesn't work. I was going to use it as a place to hold my large mp3 collection and play from that interface. They give you 15GB of space, so I was hoping to use it better.
Other than that, I think it's cool how you can link your Google documents and access them in a manner that you would from the folders on your desktop OS. It even preserves the folder structure that you have with your Google documents.
I've dabbled with http://g.ho.st/ and it sounds similar. I've been impressed at how snappy g.ho.st is, so I would expect good things from Google, also.
I read recently that the these complex weapon systems are contracted out to various companies across the US to maintain support from a broad spectrum of Congresspeople. This one had contractors in 40 states, thus the widespread support from Senators looking to bring home the bacon in their respective states.
I think most of the Draft-N hardware has allowed for firmware updates - which could allow you to implement the necessary changes to make something N compliant.

I always remember the CTO of Motorola, and her condescending dismissal, of the iPhone after it was announced: http://www.networkworld.com/ar...

Not that they don't deserve donations, but why do they need to solicit for funds for this purpose? Wouldn't fire insurance cover the losses?

I've been recently looking at http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2011/02/best-prepaid-voice-plans.html and http://www.prepaidphonenews.com/2011/02/best-prepaid-data-carriers-and-plans.html
Who exactly won? Thanks Dick Durban!

What were they going to use in the 90's? A Newton?

Al Gore?
Am I the only one that learned a new word today? Interstitial advertisements. Now I know the proper term to use when I curse those god-damn ads!

I'm also looking for a nice little box to run Boxee. I would appreciate any comments on good, pre-built, hardware.

Maybe they will sell some sort of "hat" as an accessory to place on on the top - to make it a level top.

Hopefully the receipt and warranty card will last 1000 years.
Apple seems to only get lucky when Steve Jobs is running the ship. I would say that his sense of design is his most important talent.

I don't understand the position of the equipment makers in this objection
