But wait 'till you come across Sony's (yes, the guys who invented the MiniDisc) NEW CD protection scheme: Besides being not standards compliant in a number of ways, those CDs all have their CopyBit set - and there you are with your grand MiniDisc(tm) recorder, equipped with a now totally useless digital input (unless you decide to spend another ridiculously high amount of bucks on a copy bit stripper).
I wonder how all those hordes of people feel like, who have been tricked into buying this crap by Sony's "digital copy" campaign.
Man I am so glad I havent bought any Sony product for years (since I heard about what their interpretation of artists freedom is).
This one will go into my.sig for the next few days:
Trying to catch terrorists by banning cryptographic privacy is like creating
speed limit zones in front of banks to make robbers go slower...
Don't think federal agencies are dumb. They KNOW what they are doing. It's just the politicians and many people they use. And try to find more "visualizing" phrases to explain to THEM what this really means.
...is the thought of what that wannabe-Nixon Bush will make out of this.
To me it is obvious that he must literally have ben waiting for a chance like this to show off his all-new weaponry and proof why the military budget had to be increased beyond all sensibility. Not to speak of the people no longer caring about how he fucked up the US economy.
Definitely some people's butts will be kicked as hard as possible for this - I am just afraid most of them will have not more to do with this than the poor souls that were caught in the towers.
> Any info on Linux for Series3 (or is that > pushing it?)
It is. The Series 3 is running on a NEC V30 chip which is, basically, an 8088. That means it has serious limitations regarding adress space and speed.
Psion did a great development job, though and the EPOC OS runs very smooth on it.
I recommend the new 3mx to all those who find the 5mx too bulky! Its also only about 1/3 the price and has a crisper display! And its 4 times as fast as all previous Series 3 machines.
I have reverse engineered various file formats of the Series 3 earlier and will do an import/export library at least for Series 3 Data and Agenda before the end of this year.
... all the Open Source people outside the United States. It looks like sheer sarcasm to send out the IPO email to all Open Source people world wide and then include a notice that the offer is available to US residents only.
Everyone can sign up at e-Trade, not only US residents. I wonder why they did that.
There also is a nice graphical frontend for vgetty/sendfax installations named PalMail. It hasnt been developed for ages but its pretty configurable and it worked for me for years.
No! Go and get two PPGA Celeron 333 (~$75 each), two Slot1 adapters with voltage and SMP jumpers (MSI sell them AFAIR) and plug them into one of those cheapish gigabyte dual boards - you will end up with a dual processor system for little more than $350. And I know people who run them at 500 MHz with no problems. Where else can you get 1GHz power for less than 400? Or even two Boxes? (Consider RAM, Soundcards and all that stuff)
These keyboards are obvously OEMed by almost every computer tidbits manufacturer. I have a LiteON version with touchpad and a TRUST version without it. The touchpad comes in pretty handy if you just want to change windows - no need to move tha hand, just drag the index finger cross the pad. It happily coexists with my mouse. The typing is not as marvelous as it is with the IBM keyboards from heaven (mentioned in an other thread here) but quit comparable to the Microsuck keyboard. And it features a HUGE wrist rest. Its my daily-business keyboard and did not fail within the last two years. I bought the version with touchpad for approx. $70, without pad for $30.
I would never say MiniDisc is bad. Its brilliant.

Say hello to Godwin. I think this does not need more comment.

Dont simply short it - use a small capacitor! This way you can successfully emulate the button press on most Motherboards.

Thats really unbeatable MIPS for the buck ratio.

at least the best standard Keyboards. I have seen lots of them being sold for almost nothing in the recent past.
