It's been asked before, and I'll ask it again...
Why if copyright law is so stupid etc do we have/need the GPL? Why not just use the BSD licence? Or are we just hypocrites?
Do you think MS honestly cares if you ran Windows on a different processor? You still do or don't pay MS for Windows depending on your idealogy but I can see why MS would want to stop this.
I used to code everything in C++ but now I use C# for most UI work and write a C++ DLL if needed for some reason. Sure it has some annoying bits but so do all languages/frameworks.
If stealing music.... If duplicating music has taught as anything, it's that source code wants to be free. If the GPL authors don't want their code copied, they shouldn't release it in such an easy to copy form.
I've used povray, but it isn't exactly a method generally used when modelling objects, unles you are modelling spheres...
Of course 2d formats are different to 3d formats but the point is 1 million triangles is reality. Of course in games this is cut down to a few thousand (using our friend mr bump map), but if you want one format you need to cope with millions.
PNG files can be opened fine on different architectures. Endian differences are trivial to handle, and when do you edit 3d objects or textures by hand? It's graphics, so use a graphics program to edit the file. You can still use an open file format, but text is pointless. Editing an object with 1 million triangles by hand is not the most fun.
I like to take GPL code and convert it to a BSD licence, compile it up and release it without the source code. I mean the BSD licence has no problems with me doing this, so GPL folks should get with the times. Copyright laws and all that stuff are just artificial laws. GPL is an outdated licence and should move with the times. BSD all the way!
Since when was god a fact?
Would've been a pain getting them onto the ark.
I don't mind religious people as long as they say "I think god might exist but it's only a theory."
Why not? How are they any different?
broomstick
You realise he is also insulting Google.... Better smash him good
BSD obviously has more freedom. Anybody can use it. Once the source code has been released it can be used anywhere. Even the FSF can use it.
Haven't you learnt anything? It's not stealing.
Still better than being an american.
EULA's and copyrights are dead. Just copy it all. Remember if they didn't want it copied they wouldn't have released it.
Copyrights are dead anyway, just use any source code. You're not depriving anyone.

He just translated it to another language on the fly without most people even noticing. You must be a power user.

Run the whole OS... The device drivers will just work by magic

You are correct.

With my phone I can just upload any ring tone via cable or IR... Do new phones allow this?
What if you write a good quality app that has lots of built in help? Or do you strip out the help to get more support contracts?
Maybe the solution is to make Indian the universal language.

And then people complain when copy protection is used because it infringes on peoples fair use. Deal with it...
