wow, it was just a joke so no offence:) there are microsoft and linux news here all the time. Might not be interesting to you but some might want to know (god knows who).
From my 5 mins scan of the website and reading a few comment suggest virtual office is some program that allows you to share files and check emails as well as managing projects. Didn't like flash intro do I didn't watch the whole thing
>Why do you think I'm logged in but post anonymously? so you suggest you got something related to this article?
because the source code is already available for community to develope, there is no need to "make" a community for it. However if the current developer flow out, it would mean there are fewer developer working on the current version and very likely, time would be spent to re-invent the wheel. diverse is good but too diverse is bad since there aren't any standard. this kind of problem would appear when this and that started to split.
well in my university there are still over a hundred win98se machines. We got a site license for it. I won't be surprise if there are other university that still owns win98. What if they discontinue the upgrade? They might cost themselves some trouble
they mainly make their money from supporting the software and also, you don't need to write GPL software for linux. As long as you don't use GPL code, you can always sell your program without selling your code.
free doesn't need to be free beer, but free is usually referring to free speech (aka freedom).
but also have to consider side effect such as the quality of paper would drop since they earn more if they accept more paper.
Also considering the number of people pay to one particular volume of journal, add them together and split them equally to number of paper would greatly increases the lum sum
also short term effect such as papers not submitted to that journal since others are free
If they really do succeed in making software patentable in EU, would their next step be making linux illegal? not just BSing since free stuff can threaten commercials
what's more why not open the bloody tv license for commercial this would not only produce a challenge so we can get better quality tv, it will also reduce to a subscription fee base so you pay if you want to watch
I don't see why I have to pay BBC even if i never watch their program/news. Please take away those old stupid rules
do you mean thieves and bank robbers should realized they are abusing knives and guns? There are always criminals in any country and there will always be. We don't ban something because it is abused. We try to stop the ones who abuses it. Banning it would just make it sound more like "guilty before proven innocent"
and clever != good marks in exams testing doesn't make the software any better but testing do find bugs which developers missed. Quality assurance is to make sure that the software is of good enough quality before release and testing does confirm the case.
consider your brain as buffer. You did something wrong and your wife starts to "educate" you for hours, with alot of "common senses" You then sort of half listening since your brain (buffer) can't accept that much information at one time In the end, you will only remember what she said for the last 30 seconds throwing everything in the past hours into the void---this is called buffer overrun
so can I use a projector with my laptop and project onto the photovoltaics? In this case, I would have a very large screen as well as projector powering my my laptop. Maybe we can use the photovoltaics to power the projector as well as the laptop, imagine the unlimited power!!! yey
Its time for IBM to put some of their resources to promote linux in india. Probabily they can take off 1/10 of their resource in China to divert to india since the customer base in india would probabily be higher as there are more new startups

are you new here?
99% of the /. readers are internet addictive

but unlike /. editors, they won't have dupes!!!

dont think it would rob her riches by much since her phonebook could possibly be emptied by now
If they really do succeed in making software patentable in EU, would their next step be making linux illegal? not just BSing since free stuff can threaten commercials
switching off my monitor when my computer is on overnight
it's not meant to be funny since my computer also serve as internet sharing server and will soon be webserver
what's more

the GPL patent can only used with other GPL patented product. In this case, commercial product with patent in would not be able to use it :)
when would microsoft open up their patent?

In California, hobos pay $100 to wear a T-Shirt to promote a movie
does that implies to him as well?
because they don't want to write their own API and wants to grab those free stuff???
so make it pay tax and under the same condition of the telecom works?
criminalize....it's just the telecom company wants to criminalize it but somehow i think it would be interesting to see how they argue on their point
another more "realistic" explaination

from here, 1 sq meter = 1550 sq inches.
1470W/m^2~0.95w/inch^2
Maybe because they absorb a huge amount of photons giving a very large current which makes up the power?
so can I use a projector with my laptop and project onto the photovoltaics? In this case, I would have a very large screen as well as projector powering my my laptop. Maybe we can use the photovoltaics to power the projector as well as the laptop, imagine the unlimited power!!! yey
ok, time to wake up and get back to work
