It seems to me that most "Christians" are modern day Pharisees. It's unfortunate too. No wonder the world does not believe.
Funny. In John 17:22, Jesus asks that his followers be one with Him as He is one with the Father. So THEN the world will recognize that God has sent Jesus.
Prophetic words, indeed. And you just hit the bullseye. Thumbs up for that one.
is that people are starting to look like the ones who prosecuted Galileo. They used the Bible as a SCIENTIFIC BOOK (which wasn't meant to be), distorting all science. Geocentrism anyone?
Worse. These creationists want their version to be the truth so much, that they've dismissed carbon-14 testings, astronomy, quantum physics and everything that tells us the universe is older than 6 days, as lies, etc.
I remember a joke in a creationism book: "The answer book", it's a pink one (review and rebuttal). Student: So, those 6 days could have been 6 microseconds? Teacher: Yes. Student: And 6 billion years? Teacher: Yes. Student: And 6 days? Teacher (outraged) SIX DAYS NO!!!!
This ridiculization of science gets me scared at the whole creationism.
Now, on the other hand, I have something against Darwinian Evolution. I find it hard to believe that mere "random mutations" and a couple millions years have managed to create symbiosis and parasitosis. You know, an organism depending upon another (and possibly supporting it).
Take a look at the discovery channel. Is it really logical that random mutations will make a spider look EXACTLY like a species of ants, use EXACTLY the same pheromones to hunt them? Or how about this little worm which produces some kind of food that ants like? Or how about the orchid Mantis?
Symbiosis means SYNCHRONIZED evolution, and I don't think that random mutations can do that. Furthermore, HOW are these mutations produced?
I rather think that possible mutations are already hardwired into DNA, and there are some ways to trigger specific changes - genetic memory or something... since we don't even know what the rest of "garbage" DNA is, I believe that there are still many mysteries in genetics that we haven't even SUSPECTED.
Evolution? Yes. Darwinism? I doubt it. (And I do believe God designed DNA:)
(Note: As a plus, i'd like to point out Genesis 1:20-27. First God filled the waters with living beings, then birds, then the big sea monsters and all water beings, and then earth animals, reptiles, and wild animals. And lastly, man.
So, this kinda fits evolution, in that life came first from water, then evolved into sea creatures (sharks, fish), then dinosaurs, mammals, and finally mankind. Of course, this is just an interpretation, but I'd say it's quite accurate for a religious book. In any case, interpretation should follow Science, and not the opposite.
I've seen 98Lite, 2000Lite and XPLite. Perhaps the guys will make a LonghornLite that will enable you to use low-end graphics cards. Man, Microsoft should HIRE these guys. No. Put them on the TOP of the devel. team.
if requiring a graphics accelerator card is an unchangeable part of the Operating System, the system is obviously badly designed. Longhorn should separate the graphics modules from the interface. If the kernel doesn't detect an accelerated graphic, use the 2D system.
We used to have a website (http://www.grupolinda.org/ ), but i think it died:( The server wasn't well configured and I frankly don't know what happened to the webmaster. It's been years since I got out of college, anyway.
Or Lenna? (Lenna is a 70's playmate whose picture is widely used by image processing scientists. The image is cut JUST at the RIGHT point, so nothing "interesting" is seen:P )
However, I think that the most critical part of science is HOW it's taught. Richard Feynman made an astonishing discovery on science being memorized and not taught (Excerpt from book: Surely you're joking Mr. Feynman).
I belonged to a scientific group in my school. (I'm talking about college). We had LOTS of funs making robots that actually walked (one was a crane-like biped robot), programming computer simulations (or making cool flashing lights with electronics), a talking program (you would train the program with your voice, and a few hours of manual labor later:P, you could make it speak any phrase you'd like)...
And of course, just talking about science, of any topic that interested us. We even talked about religion - in a scientific way (WEIRD math ideas), fractals (fractal geomety of nature), chaos theory (remember Jurassic Park?), etc.
We were like the "deat poet society" of science. The LINDA group was pretty succesful, and we published some papers in international physics journals.
Perhaps making groups like this in your school would attract youngsters. Science, without the grades. Just for learning and fun:)
I've seen this thing happen in the shareware market: CRIPPLEWARE. Oh, you can't save files until you get the registered edition. Oh, you can't print those awesome reports.
3 apps max? Window 3.1 can run more apps than that. Sheesh.
OK Bill Gates, tell me this is not a way to enslave more users and get them to buy "the real thing".
Abstract: Since Shapiro published his work on embedded zerotree wavelet (EZW) image coding [1], there have been increased research activities in image coding centered around wavelets. In this letter, we first point out that the wavelet transform is just one member in a family of linear transformations, and the discrete cosine transform (DCT) can also be coupled with an embedded zerotree quantizer. We then present such an image coder that outperforms any other DCT-based coder published in the literature.
Another example of progresses silenced by patents, stupid regulations and bureaucracy.

I know you're joking when you say you like porn spam, but let's face a fact:
MANY CHILDREN TODAY HAVE E-MAIL.
And that makes them easy targets for porn spam. What would the parents think about it? Sure they can install filters and such, but then we have two choices:
b) Children exposed to porn a) Hyper-protected children with stupid AOL accounts
Neither of these is a good choice.
Obviously SPAM needs to be regulated (and of course, disappear, but the world's not perfect).
I recently got Prince of Persia: Warrior Within... I usually play for 3 hours daily (more or less). When I start getting dizzy I turn the thing off and relax. Problem is... whenever I close my eyes I start seeing (in my mind) images of the prince jumping or running on the walls... Sensory overload maybe?
It's a weird effect on the human brain - 3D games feel much more real than 2D games, as if you disconnected from the physical world and began living the virtual world.
Please reply this with your experiences regarding 3D games.
who fell in love with the Dr. from her favorite soap opera and began stalking the actor?
Besides a reality check, I'd recommend making a full psychological and neurological study on the people who have blurred the line between fiction and reality. Traumatic experiences at very short age, perhaps? A head injury?
Like how many of these earthquakes have happened? What's THEIR contribution to altering the Earth's rotation?
Assuming that these earthquakes are completely random, and have a more or less uniform distribution (well, actually around the limits of the tectonic plaques), I assume that in average the earth will have the same rotation speed. Some earthquakes will accelerate it, others will slow it down.
This earthquake just happened to be the first one whose effects could be MEASURED. First sample, doh?
Frankly this "oh wow look! the earthquake was so powerful it affected the rotation speed of the Earth!" stuff makes me laugh.
to actually RTFA? :) It's FRIDAY! :D
I want to have a nice friday, so I'll skip this.
Easy Instructions:
:)
a) Download Firefox.
b) Download anti-spyware (ad-aware, Spybot)
c) Get off the internet.
d) Run the anti-spyware to make sure your machine is 100% virus and spyware free.
e) Activate your winxp firewall.
f) install Firefox.
Ta-da!

Microsoft developers are warning against Longhorn overhype. Oh wait...
Now, answer me this: How many RIAA lawyers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
... nevermind.
Three. One to make the bulb a copyright infringer by making a fake warez site, another to sniff him, and another to present the subpoena.
Oh, screw in

Maybe you missed something... Miramax Films, property of Disney, has made many anti-catholic movies, or movies that go against catholic morals. http://www.indiewire.com/biz/biz_990623_briefs.htm l
Search for "Miramax catholic" on google to get an idea. Of course, this only shows more of disney's hidden agenda.
*CRUNCH*
... side.
Now tell me what's the difficult part of it.
"How-to-use" computer videos SHOULD be on DVD or TAPE!

There's the ads, remember?
:)
The real losers here are the advertisers if Google doesn't fix this thing.
Still, gmail is in BETA, has an INVITATION-based signing up scheme. And no software is bug-free.
Anyway, thankfully I don't keep private info on my spydermann.slashdot g-mail account
I hope you know that all email is vulnerable to interception.
Including usernames and passwords? O.o

to add the following headers to spam?

X-Suitable-for-children: No
And then yes, make ALL spam that doesn't comply, illegal. Better regulations, gentlemen
Of course, this is the REAL world
Either +1 insightful, or +1 funny. (actually it's depressingly RIGHT).

I found an article at http://www.loonygames.com/content/1.2/feat/.
It talks about something called simulator sickness, a condition similar to motion sickness that is caused by exposure to virtual environments.
This article seems interesting.
