    Whatever the distribution of running speeds of a $herbivore propulation, it's the slowest individuals that end up as lunch for $predator. Selection affects a population by acting on the individuals within it, not on the population as a whole entity.

    Thousands of years ago the availability of food was probably quite erratic. No food stamps and no supermarket to spend them at.

    If you could lay down a bit of blubber in times of plenty that could see you through a hard season. A tendency towards obesity would be a positive survival trait.

    You probably signed up for the 'hideMyPr0n (tm)' option. Obviously it can't actually lie (that could itself trip you up - 3 hours and 230 meg on BaptistHymns.com when you're a Catholic priest!). So it just displays the information in as generic and meaningless (and hence plausibly deniable) form as possible. And all for only $27.99 per month! YMMV, VWP.

    Diversity may be (and probably is) a better trait in the long term
    I'm not even sure it is a trait. Perhaps it's fair to say it's a trait of populations rather than individuals, but I don't see how in that case it can be selected for (or against) in the standard Darwinian method like skin colour or weight might be.

    The copyright expiry should be calculated from the death of the artist, not the date of recording.
    So ... the earlier they die, the earlier their works are out of copyright?

    I for one will welcome the day when Celine Dion's work is in the public domain. Can't happen too soon!

    Even assume you have that kind of money, and you manage to rent it at 2000/month (which seems to be the asking rent for such a house), you will need more than 30 years to get break-even!
    Except you haven't lost the 750 grand, since you still own the house.

    Generally speaking if you have to check on them, they are not sev 1. If they are sev 1 you should have been contacted by now via automated(monitoring software)
    Perhaps they're a C shop - so they count from zero.
