Wow. That was a comprehensive test. Type in one seach, and decide from that. That's like saying that Linux sucks because Slackware didn't find my sound card. Besides, you didn't even compare against Google's special Linux search.

  4. An send up to consumerism on Segway vs. Roomba · · Score: 1

Ah, consumerism at it's finest! One useless, overpriced, plastic toy smashes another useless, overpriced, plastic toy. Somehow, I don't see either of these products as improving life. They both seem to me to be the pinnacle of wasteful laziness. Personally, I'd smash both pieces of junk with a sledgehammer for fun.

I've been using Winamp for as long as they've existed, and I've gotta say, at least before the 3.x versions, it was a *great* program. Light, fast, simple, and relatively bug free, with tons of features that you could turn on if you wanted to and add-ons that did almost anything I could imagine, as far as audio goes. I will miss Winamp. Nonetheless, I suspect that I'm not alone in saying that I'll continue using Winamp for the forseeable future. I haven't needed to upgrade from my current version (2.8 something) for quite a while, and from what I understand, a lot of long time users stopped with 2.8. So, long live Winamp!

But the whole point is that the gov't runs the mainstream media. The mainstream media has NOT reported this, and will not, because Indymedia isn't considered "real" press, and because the gov't simply does not want people to know about it. And finally, 51% of the US population obviously either doesn't give a shit, or are completely clueless about what's going on. This will get ignored, and nobody but the tiny minority of informed citizens will ever know (or care) that this happened. People won't get upset until the gov't starts taking away their SUV's.

And by the same logic, there's nothing less cool than buying brand new hardware for no particular reason. Any Joe Schmoe can drive to Wal-Mart and buy the latest and greatest. Very true. Once you have a kid, you're screwed. You've got to support that kid for at least 20 years. That's a hell of a lot of pressure. I didn't even think about that. But then again, people only have kids if they're well off enough that they can afford the kid... right?

Well, anyone who's older than 8 should not be so naive as to expect everybody to respect their wishes. That's just delusional. Of course open source code is going to be stolen and used in closed source apps, or poprietary apps. It's probably already been done thousands of times, and will continue to happen.

It's along the lines of crossing at a "crosswalk" anywhere in suburbia America, and assuming that everybody will stop for you since it's the law. Law is one thing, but reality would intervene on that daydream, and you'd get flattened.
