    It's not illegal to ask candidates about children or marital status. That's a lie.

    ... but it's a burden to *not* ask somebody what their gender or ethnic origin is? Why is that difficult?

    Taxcloud is just one service, that's already integrated into various e-commerce shopping carts. We've been using it for about a year. It costs us $10/month. This isn't a real problem.

    I fly weekly, so I see all kinds of zombified people from all over the place pretty frequently. I make a point to see what people are doing on their gadgets, and 9/10 people use them to play some mindless games or watch some movie or use some social media. If people used phones for doing something useful with their lives, I doubt we'd even be having this discussion. The problem is that most people are filling their minds with trash, and do, indeed seem to be addicted to doing such.

    Most people got less than $1000/year in temporary tax reduction, paid for by debt. That doesn't do shit to the economy. Long term, every expert says that this tax change will significantly harm the economy.

    That's it? That's all you got? Rich people got lower taxes, so all of a sudden, the economy is awesome? If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you.

    That is pretty neat. But Twitter is a for-profit company. They're going to want to make money, eventually. Invariably, that means that they're going to close things off once the money gets tight. Hanging your hat on a company/service that you don't own is never going to work out well in the long run.

    Now a similar, non-profit system like Twitter, could be done well, and could be as extensible as you describe. Maybe somebody will want to do something like that, eventually...?

    Does it, though? People using Facebook are already doing so because they don't care about their data. Other people already know they shouldn't give their data to Facebook. I think that stuff like this has zero impact on Facebook.
