At a recent convention, a lot of the MST3k alumn met and showed the pilot episode(complete with Beeper, the precursor to Tom Servo). Its on DAPCENTRAL(dapcentral.org), you should give it a gander, but keep in mind that it pretty rough around the edges.
I suggest books on how the internet actually works. Maybe while he is behind a series of bars he can see the folly in his series of tubes comment.
Because its hard to preserve narrative momentum

How Do Games Grow Up?

when you mix in the actual gameplay. If I'm watching a movie or reading a book, other than "real life" interruptions, there is nothing to stop me from finishing the whole thing without pause. Games however have to break up the narrative to allow your character to do things.
For example, I'm sure the Tactics Ogre games had a great story, but I didn't really follow it after playing the games for a few hours. They would have cutscenes that introduce some characters, plot points etc. then you would have to battle for about 20 minutes, followed by another cutscene, followed by more battle etc. The battles were fun(or else I wouldn't have played the game), but it certainly was time consuming, so when you mix in the fact that I had other responsibilities, the whole thing became very hard to follow. Eventually I just skipped through the plot and went straight into the gameplay.
IMO the best game stories are the ones that give you a connection to your character and motivation for achieving the objectives. Thats it. If you want a book, read a book.....
I think more use Linux then use Windows. Every airline that I have flew on internationally that had an in flight entertainment system(Delta and Continental for sure, probably others) used the same in flight entertainment system that was linux based. I got to see the penguin a lot when my system repeatedly rebooted on a flight from Atlanta to Munich..... Now that the companies saved money by going Linux, maybe they can invest it in some touch screens that can actually take abuse.
And that is part of the reason you probably won't see a massive investment in game AI. Its much easier to add networking to the game than it is to try design, implement, and test a good AI.
The Iraq war was a war of choice. Therefore it shouldn't fall under "defense" because it wasn't defending us from anything. Any money spent on a war of choice might as well have been spent on entitlement programs.
"windows tax" The term "windows tax" was coined because you couldn't buy a PC from a major manufacturer WITHOUT buying Windows too, even if you would never use it. It was a response to an abusive monopolistic practice, not a complaint about price per se. I suppose you could argue that if you buy a Mac then immediately install Linux on it you are still paying an OS X tax, but since Apple hardly has the market for laptops cornered, I would argue that this is a moot point.
I'll have you know that the signed hypodermic needle I have was used by Barry Bonds in his historic 700th steroid injection is going to be worth a fortune on ebay!
Wow, your preferences obviously are infallible, so whatever you determine to be the "best" technology really must be the best! How stupid all of us who bought technology that matched our needs were, oh Monkey-some, show us the way!
The measure of how "good" a technology is cannot be expressed in a vector. Just because something has a lot of bells and whistles doesn't make it "good", and just because something lacks said bells and whistles doesn't necessarily make it bad. Guess what, a lot of people liked the iPod BECAUSE they thought it was good technology. Maybe it didn't meet your needs, but just because it didn't doesn't mean that the thing is merely "hype". Get over yourself.
is that in order to sell more magazines every year(and not have people read the rankings from years previous) they radically and arbitrarily change the criteria. Ever actually try to track the rankings? A school will gain 10, lose 5, gain 2, lose 7 over the course of 4 years. Now obviously schools do change, but lets face facts, Universities, esp. ones that have been around for a few centuries, are not highly dynamic beasts. How different really is the Harvard of this year compared to last? Or even compared to Harvard of 1997?
Maybe if US News actually kept relatively static criteria it would be interesting, but that doesn't sell very many magazines, does it?
is the bicycle commuter tax credit. Finally those if us who don't use tons of oil will pay less towards the war fir oil. Now if only American drivers didn't behave like asshats towards cyclists....
popular if they had any decent books in their store or actually supported non-windows platforms. You would think that in the face of the growing popularity of the mac and the heavy competetion they are facing that Sony would try to expand it's potential audience, but we all know modern Sony rarely displays anything that could be considered logic...
get off my lawn exist in the form they did in 2001...maybe because back in my day kids had respect for their elders and I could search google without those damn kids on my lawn, now get off my lawn!
much like the power companies do. If I want anywhere near decent speed I basically have to be up by 6 before the file sharers get up. I'm sick of having to buffer youtube videos because someone upstream is downloading gigs of data. However, I don't really care what you do while I'm sleeping, so I think that they shouldn't implement caps, but instead do as much traffic shaping as necessary from say 8 am to 10 pm so that people who don't use a ton of bandwidth can still enjoy what they like and from 10 pm to 8 am its open season.
Huh? Despite the fact that proving code correct can be a major burden itself, the long and short of it is that outside of a few niches, most programs have to interface heavily with various hardware vendors, OS's, APIs etc. For example, a lot of our code at work runs on Linux and thus is dependent on Linux behaving a certain way. So go ahead, prove the correctness of Linux first, then maybe we can prove the correctness of our code.

that those really hot women(Sirens if you will) on Titan are just statues.....

after I found out there may be a space-pirate-ass-kicking chick with a lazer and a "screw attack" out there, I couldn't stop masturbating.
Yeah, but years of self-abuse have made their meat very tough, so why bother?
Well, its a problem if you are both security conscious AND stupid.... oh how I wish that was a much smaller intersection than it actually is....

Surfin'Shield sort of drowned. There is probably a similar scam behind this "research"....

How can a man claim both to be a fiscal conservative AND be one of the biggest cheerleaders for the Iraq War? The two simply do not add up.
Well, it will be a series of tubes going up his cornhole.....
Or just use spotlight, Mac users have been able to do find files quickly for years.
