    I have a current driving licence, a current passport, etc. all the usual gubbins and have not once been required to give either of the above.

    I find this assertion difficult to believe. Not saying it isn't true. Just find it difficult to believe

    I would say that, at the very least, you have not visited the US in the last 10-20 years.

    The EU? I find it _impossible_ to believe they don't collect _some_ biometric information on its citizens. Especially for an identity type document, say a drivers license, or a passport.

    Until we reach a point where compute per watt stabilizes, it is highly unlikely that anyone would be interested in using old components to build a cluster.

    The first clusters WERE 'old components'. Not all of us had budgets that allowed the latest technology. Some of us didn't HAVE a budget, just a roomfull of 'old components'.

    Not at all. To have that happen they have to prove that you're a physical danger to yourself or somebody else. Simply being eccentric, insane, or even being a criminal sociopath who defrauds people doesn't have a chance of landing you there.

    My first thought to this is: "What country do you live in? Where reality has something to do with the court system?" .\:p/.

    In my country (USA), everything depends on what the definition of the word 'is' is. And the only ones qualified to even discuss the issue are lawyers. Because, of course 'the truth' is 'vastly overated'.

    Seems to me that click-baiters also write like that.

    How do you tell the difference? Without just "knowing"? i.e., There are tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of scholarly sites. And entirely unknown numbers of click-baiters.

    Since I am based in Europe, I do observe these tendencies with some level fascination. It is just as if the US envies Europe the dark ages of non-enlightenment and wants to go into something similar to compensate.

    I don't know that it is envy.

    We do have a segment of the population believing that "we can do it better". Whether or not "it" is worth doing at all.

    There are several tutorials on youtube on how to do overtone (also called throat) singing. She doesn't cover it, because probably there's enough of it already.

    "Throat singing" involves operating the vocal cords while inhaling. This lady, Anna-Maria Hefele, at least, is NOT doing that.
