Dell now has 90 day warranties on some of their products - actual laptops that cost more than $1000 are now protected for a full 90 days. You can choose to pay for a longer warranty, so make sure you read the small print.
I wouldn't mind stopping to chat, if people had something to say other than, "Do you know where I can rub my knob on the magical girth stone to gain level 5 Throbbing?" Or they've been playing the game so long that they can only speak in slang, which usually ends in "y" or "ie" - "Take your henchie to the blog circle where the draze grub on the numbies.." What?!!?
So forgive me if I run past you in the future, I'm just trying to get my adventure fix or finish a task, until i can hook up with people I know.
"I fully support genetically modified foods (as he smokes a cigarette with a 6 fingered hand) and the continued promotion of such foods (large clump of hair falls to the ground) not only to feed the poor, but to offer us a more stable yield (third eye blinks) and a less expensive standard of living (his 8-legged dog runs up behind him with a two-headed rabbit in it's mouth)."
I for one will also continue to pay more for organic food, though I don't know where your GF is shopping to be paying %400 more. I can get my organic groceries for roughly the same cost at Trader Joes here in Chicago, as I can for crap food at Jewel, and have it all taste better and have actual nutrition.
A body in motion will stay in motion, but a body on a couch will stay on the couch... not quite right, but close. I'll work on it while I eat these chips.
As a somewhat older, but slightly less fuddy and duddy, I took "ready for production" to mean "ready to be produced", not "down at the local home depot for you to buy and put on your garage". You whipper-snappers and your internet attention spans!

Totally - give me my netflix on my iPod, with the ability to plug it in to any tv or computer monitor, and I would buy one in a heartbeat.
And this person wonders where you shop? Does everyone here on Slashdot shop at the local mom and pop? Probably not, including myself. The harderst part is getting people to vote with their dollars, AND not buy so much crap because the mega-corporations tell you need it. If the money started to flow towards small and medium businesses, then they would flourish just like the big businesses do. What can you do when people don't care about anything but the lowest price?
I think it would have looked much better if he just had the mini on counter with the cables hidden in back. All those efforts for hiding the mini, and the nasty cables and face plates are just hangin out for all to see. It's cool that you hacked up something unique, but don't try to sell it on Slashdot as an uber cool hidden computer. And stop talking like a Mary Poppins - swifty nifty!
Instead of fining Sony tiny sums of money, we, the little guy, could hit them much harder, by supporting LOCAL music. Most local bands are very appreciative of any support, give out their cd's for free, and are actually pretty decent. In Chicago, people used to go out to a bar on any given night, because they knew live music was there, not some specific band they've heard a million times. Now, you have to bring your own crowd, as the days of a good VENUE with a built in crowd are nearly gone. That is the biggest crime of payola - most peoples ears are trained to reject new music unless the music industry force feeds it to them.
So, get an ipod, load it up with your favorite classics and local music, and stop listening to the radio. And go see some live music without knowing who they are. It's good times.

This is exactly why I keep my business with speakeasy rather than switch to cheaper options available in Chicago. Their support rocks, and they don't bother you when you want to try things out with your static IP. Gotta support em!
It's funny how flat text can be read so differently by different folks. I took the Aeron chair/foosball table comment to just be tongue in cheek examples of boom periods in the industry that he's not seeing yet. Saying he is whining is being a little hard on the guy, don't you think? That being said, here in Chicago, the ads are out there, they just still expect to get more for their dollar then they used to:

Sorry, but I gotta cry bullshit on this one too. Money is not an excellent deterent because there are only two kinds of people who get sued - those who have big cash, and those who don't. The ones who have big cash can afford to pay it, and then proceed to spread the cost of that payment to the rest of us through more expensive products, higher "Shipping and Handling fees", or higher premiums on our insurance. The ones who can't afford to pay, don't or again cause somebody else, like you and I, to pick up the bill.
I'm all for privacy and digital rights and all that, but free speech does have some trade offs, and this would be one of them. If you found some pictures of Bush playing golf with Bin Laden, you sure as hell would want to be able to publish those, wouldn't you? I would hope so, for all our sakes.
... is that there will be a lot more linux friendly usb devices on ebay for cheap! One of the best things about Linux is that it works on OLD hardware very well, so why should we care about 2006 hardware standards, when most of us can run webservers on '96 hardware;-) If we need more power than that, there's always the.... wait for it.... beowolf cluster of '96 hardware. There weren't any big-breasted women on that link! Just some article talking using big words, and such. My eyes glazed over after about 3 sentences.
