http://hackermedia.org/ is a site that aggregates awesome tech shows. If anyone sees anything that I am missing please email me. While I am pimping out projects I work on, http://hackerpublicradio.org/ is a great show that is done by the community, not any set hosts.
This is great for the linux community. i believe in starting them young.
here is a guide i wrote on how to turn old 98 boxes into great edubuntu boxes for children. i have been taking older computers, putting more ram in them, and giving them away. it takes no time for a child to adapt to linux, and this way we can teach them a bit more than click on the start button.

I have given several older machines away with Edubuntu on them. The kids are playing with them in seconds. Show them that they put a cd in and then its ready to burn, then show them the menu and they are ready to go. Parents love it because its "Educational" kids love it because it has games, I love it because its linux and it can easily take the place of win 98 on an older second machine.
I like it so much I even wrote up a tfile for some help in getting the user interface set up like that other os and getting the apps compatible for school and whatnot.
I listen to this show, and yes i was attracted by the name open source, i thought it was a linux/gnu show. It isn't, but they have an interesting format for doing their show, they do alot of interviewing and call-ins for the shows content, in fact you can suggest a show to them if there is something you want to hear a firsthand account of. If you want to hear a good one, listen to the one about craglist and nola.com and their role in hurricane katrina.

i think the point today is that people are free to use whatever they want to use. but with pics like this in this guys flicker account, i might we switching to yahoo!!
My wife and I use cell phones, we only have a phone line only for DSL. DSL costs us $43 a month. BUT in order to qualify for the PRIVILEGE of BELL SOUTH DSL we have to have the 40$ phone service. So yeah I can get a phone for 12 bucks but then I dont get DSL.
Phone services are a big cashcow for these companies. I think I'll piss on the bell south tower at Phreaknic again this year. Since I have given bell south almost $500 since last year for the privilege of DSL.
"Having said that though, a lot of indie podcasts, even the top ones, suffer from a distinct lack of professionalism. I don't mean just lack of a radio voice or something like that, I mean stuff like loooong intros and spending literally half the show talking about how you can contact the show. There's a real lack of understanding about how to keep people interested. A lot are good though, but to keep up with mainstream media, indicasts are going to have to minimize the boring stuff."
now spending half of the show telling how to contact the show does suck, and when the host cant keep the ball rolling, its very anoying, but things like long intros or things that are not done on real radio is where the coolness is.
some people do podcasts for the stats of the thing, some people do it because they just want to and do things the way that they want to. my show will never be anywhere near real radio, but on the other hand real radio will mever be anywhere near my show.
this is a pic with a video ipod pictured, from the ge annual report that a listener to my show submitted. now its a mini, so this may just be annual report fluff.
