I think M$ has their fingers in this, if adobe and macromedia went complete linux what's to keep anyone on windows? All the developers would switch over and other software would follow adobes lead and make a linux build.
I've heard of and used gimp, I don't really care for it but then it was a while back it may be better. To be honest I really like Adobes software I don't know why they have ported over to Linux.
Get some kind of fund going and finance someone that is willing to fight. Or find some lawyer strong enough to fight the RIAA that will do it free or at the low end of the scale. It almost seems like the RIAA picked specific people that were unable to finance a defense.

The only thing holding me back is my use of photoshop and premiere, I could see photoshop under WINE but not premiere.
