A quick look at poaching, elephants, and constipation (impaction)... I looked at Kenyan government records, elephant autopsy reports, and some of the periodicals in the field, such as Pachyderm.
Long story short: Elephant poaching is real, and was more prevalent in the Seventies and Eighties. Destruction of the market for ivory has cut it down to the point where the demand no longer supports much poaching, but it does continue. The poachers are often well-armed, and have murdered opponents. Some elephants have died from impaction, and this is studied as a symptom of habitat loss. The frequency of both causes of elephant death are extensively studied.
Time for me to start re-selling Ivory Soap on eBay if they do. I love to help other folks train their word filters. Like the NSA. God is great, isn't he?
Well, I was using 'surge' to denote the spike in popularity.
I agree it's price driven to a large extent.
The industry needs to kepp 'em inexpensive and increase the battery life, and durability.
I'd like to see these things in plastic capsules in drugstores, like MP3 players (note: MP3 player not in this case to include iPods), or cheap cameras.
I wonder, with the surge in this UMPC form factor, if not only efficient OS's are favored, but perhaps new networked games with cross-platform ports (and a smaller footprint).
I scent a market opportunity for game companies to port more games to Linux...
Let me preface my remarks with two personal observations: I admire anyone who uses a Heinlein quote properly in their sig. Kudos.
My Spanish is lots worse than your English. There is nothing of substance wrong with your post's grammar or spelling.
So, just because the author views disagree with your's you claim that the raised points are FUD? Not precisely. The article throws a lot of cautionary alarms, and doesn't back them with any facts. That's what makes it FUD.
Typical GPL zealot reaction "Oh noes! you don't understand GPL! you are teh suckzorz!!!" I used no such language or locution.
Of course, I did not expect such objective reactions from slashdot... It's just my opinion. *looks around* It is a discussion board, right?
No, I'm not an attorney. I had a few contract law courses, and I have studied the GPL for my own interest. I am no zealot. I have released software and creative output under both commercial and free licenses.
I also try to remember, each day, that I might be wrong on any issue at any time, being human.
From TFA:
The next launch from pad 39A is scheduled for Oct. 8. NASA sources say engineers believe the damage can be repaired by then with no impact on plans to launch Atlantis on a mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope.
From the Slashdot FAQ:
Offtopic -- A comment which has nothing to do with the story it's linked to (song lyrics, obscene ascii art, comments about another topic entirely) is Offtopic.
Flamebait -- Flamebait refers to comments whose sole purpose is to insult and enrage. If someone is not-so-subtly picking a fight (racial insults are a dead giveaway), it's Flamebait.
Troll -- A Troll is similar to Flamebait, but slightly more refined. This is a prank comment intended to provoke indignant (or just confused) responses. We've wasted enough electrons here, I think.
He's obviously a big fan of Forest Lawn.
I shall submit an article on the 'electronic encyclopedia, which anyone can edit.'

I slam no fiddle makers. Peace be upon him.
Citation please.
Interesting if true.
Also, would like to know scope.

I know a left-wing elitist liberal who owns guns and is a life member of the NRA.
Guess again.
If a Zen Master asks you what is the sound of one hand clapping, slap the master in the face, then bow.
Imagine the repercussions if a large technology company like Sun Microsystems helped the development and support of OpenOffice.
They could twin its codebase with their own corporate version and then the sky would truly be the limit.

It has a certain dada quality.

Google: Bugs Bunny maroon
I read the article. In the first paragraph, the author acknowledges that the scope of the article does not include the changes between GPLv2 and v3.
Reading the rest of the article, the author does not seem to understand the basis of the GPL, and he engages in needless scaremongering.
It's a clueless work.

Or, just a solid boxset with good art. Maybe in brushed aluminum. Something nice.

This happens to you on a regular basis?
What the heck are you saying to the nice TSA folks?
Twitter:
You lost me at M$.
That's how angsty thirteen-year-olds label Microsoft.
Just as anti-open source folks call it 'open sores' or label its propenents as filthy, stinking hippies.
You're a pimple on the face of free speech.
Meanwhile, to the other folks... do we need to drag this troll into every discussion of the microblogging software of the same name?
It's possible (from the lack of a comma) he thought you were simply the wrong clown.
Could be I'm the right clown.
One thing is for certain: the poster is an Anonymous Coward.

It's nice to know the classics are still appreciated on Slashdot. :)
I agree with your appraisal of Negroponte.
Regardless, calling someone an ass is flamebait even when it's true.
Using his words to describe the mission was off-topic because the topic is: "OLPC's XO As a Wireless Hacking Tool."
That's true. You could build it for $1.
Now, step two: Get it to Mars.
