Here's the thing. Police are allowed by law to lie to, play tricks upon, and intimidate persons of interest in the course of an investigation. Persons of interest who use those tactics on the police, on the other hand, are in violation of the law. It's not symmetrical, so saying, "It's only fair to turn it around" is not true, and if it's a joke it's a poor one.

I saw no such predisposition. Ponder the difference between "rare" and "non-existent" or "so much" and "all".

Yes, and the GP was talking about literacy, not language. This is all off-topic anyway; the original article was about taxi (including Uber) drivers' ability to speak English. The UK requires that all licensed private hire drivers are able to communicate in English at an appropriate level. Drivers need to be able to communicate with passengers to discuss a route or fare, as well as read, understand and respond to important regulatory, safety and travel information. More here.

Domain names are not case sensitive (RFC 4343). The remainder of the URL may be (and frequently, not not always, is), depending on the host software. This is also true for SMTP addresses.

It's a sad commentary on the current state of /. that you felt compelled to explain what should be (and would have been just a few years ago) common knowledge to the site's readership. Here's the reason I mentioned the casing of the URL as presented in TFS: as you may have noticed, domain names are frequently presented in mass marketing with casing in order to clarify/emphasize what the site is about or to make it easier to remember what may be a long string of characters. "IsItDownRightNow.com" and "ISitDownRightNow.com" are both easy to remember, but lead the average person to different conclusions; "isitdownrightnow.com" leaves it to the parsing peculiarities of the reader.

Although I agree with you jail these days is for hardened criminals and training of them

No. Jail is for drunk drivers, shoplifters, wife abusers, and prostitutes. Prison is where you find the hardened criminals, though they may spend some time in jail while awaiting trial.

  19. Jail quality really depends on your state. Where I live, a 30-day jail sentence is just really boring. In other places (e.g. California currently) it could be very dangerous.

Unlikely he'd spend any time in jail for this in California. We don't even keep violent felons in jail for long these days. And in LA, when they get out we thank them for their service.

  20. Its not free. The price of the insurance is added to the purchase price of the car if you select it. And it probably isn't cheap.

TFA says, "It's unclear how much the lifetime insurance and maintenance bundle costs. We reached out to Tesla for clarification, but have yet to hear back." So cost unknown, but probably comparable to what you'd pay for a standard policy. The fact that it's added to the price of the car at purchase means that if you're financing the car, you're also financing the insurance and maintenance.

Although the TFA doesn't specify, it's a pretty safe guess that this insurance is liability only, at state-mandated minimum levels. If you want to cover the cost of repairing the car in the event you cause an accident, you'll have to buy that coverage separately.

The average net worth of the 400 wealthiest persons in the US is $6 billion (according to Forbes), so the total wealth in that group is $2.4 trillion.
