your reference dosen't mention it - to be expected for a US source - but AFAIK troll in that sense is polari slang: a gay reference (admittedly there's a fair amount of Polari used in mainstream society in the contempary UK)

I suspect you'll find the HDTV penetration is around 10% higher in Japan than the US. Europe, yes, just a buzzword (though plenty of people with decent monitors which the 360 will output to fine)
For what it's worth I saw an actual Japanese person picking up a 360 at the same time I did - in Yokohama Yodobashi. There were stacks of them behind the counter...
Oh - and to counter the "it's only being advertised in Shibuya" brigade - There've been plenty of adverts, the Japanese are far more aware of the 360 than they were the original XBox. It's just that none of the launch games appeal to them. Hell, even DOA4 has been pushed back again.
Right now, the majority of anime is NOT made for kids.
If you want to argue that it's the kids anime that has the good viewing figures, and name recognition, you'd be correct, but kid cartoons do NOT make up the majority of hours produced...
It's also a solid defence in the UK - where they managed to call a Conservative MP a "whining little shit" and won the case because the judge ruled he was...
It's actually interesting as the software developer is based in the UK - you'd assume that they were aware as trained professionals that their software was probably illegal in their home market. Anyone know of any CDs released in the UK that use this system?
Actually, Murdoch has been lobbying in the past to have all the "populist" programs transferred to the BBC's commercial competitors, as they aren't part of the "public service ethos" the BBC should serve.
Obviously his media also slate the non-popular stuff for being a waste of money...
"so much" Japanese spam? I don't get any to my GMail account and, as I live in Japan, I regularly use it to communicate in Japanese, and for Japanese e-commerce sites.
It's before my time, but there's older EU-level legislation that makes it illegal - Certainly we were taught that the way that databases delete had to be changed in the early/mid-80s due to EU legislation.
The French government has decided that videogames are an artform, so this is more in the way of artistic patronage than corporate welfare. Maybe.
I'm fairly sure that the French government has gotten in more trouble from the EU for protectionism and subsidies to French companies .
I suspect you'll find it's not out in Japan til March and not out in the US til late this year.

They didn't - the thing on that list that sold well is Ninja Gaiden / Ninja Gaiden Black. The rest were in the discount bin within weeks of release.

This is occuring in the UK. EULAs are NOT valid in the UK.
No - it was missing out on a lot of the work done to the Journal if nothing else.

Actually, Real have a player available for download on their site.

Because it is something obvious to someone versed in the art.
A significant number of the rebels in the first two films - Noone minds the bad guys being English, but the heroes?
The Japanese film Avalon you mean? Shot in Poland, in Polish, with a Polish cast, but written and directed by Mamoru Oshii

They can't "force" you to work over 35 hours - you have to "volunteer"
That's not hard - the DC is currently outselling the X-Box in Japan...
Feh - still hot. Or is there a rule that we can only objectify real women now?
Have you considered an iRiver iHP120 (or whatever the current name is...) - it certainly seems to match all the points you've brought up.
There already is a slashdot.jp...
