You know, I think it'd be to citizens' advantage not to put people on the bench that were old enough to be on cash. Consistency is what the voice of law needs, ya know?
Having said that, I hope Bush puts some very old judges on to replace the leaving justices. We don't want anymore of this crap.
Well, in some cases it is the law to censor it for the Chinese. It was big news that Google did this a while back (and still does), many people evoking their 'do no evil policy'. They just pointed to the Chinese lawbooks and shrugged.
I think Yahoo needs to stop counter-attacking and start inovating. Adding more widgets to their site and imitating Google's 1GB mailbox isn't winning anyone over who has the same on the other side. If they want to fight giants like Google, they need to take some risks of their own.
Does Sony have any good reason NOT to continue selling the dual shock controllers and ignore the District Court in Oakland, California? I mean fiscally, wouldn't it be smarter to tell them to bugger off and sell em anyhow?
it's about time there was a system to automatically put submitted links thorugh MirrorDot. This is a prime example;/.ed before 10 comments were posted. sheesh.
people will probably be more aware that the Macintosh isn't bullet proof. After seeing this article it reminded me that I should still be careful about what files I get from whom etc., even if I am on a mac.
Jeffy Tweety of Wilco (mentioned in TFA), a popular indie band, is a staunch advocate of P2P music distribution and making music possible via the internet. When their label Reprise rejected thier album "Yankee Foxtrot Hotel", they purchased their master copies and streamed it online for free.
In other news, Jeff Tweedy and Stanford Law School professor Lawrence Lessig will discuss their opinions regarding file sharing, free culture, and the arts. Lessig wrote the 2004 book Free Culture: How Big Media Uses Technology and the Law to Lock Down Culture and Control Creativity. Steven Johnson, author of Interface Culture: How New Technology Transforms the Way We Create and Communicate, will moderate the discussion. All LIVE from the NYPL in conjunction with Wired magazine.
Because they are the government. Asking the government not to be nosey is like asking a dog not to pee on the rug. Even after so many times saying 'no', when your back is turned **look!** they've gone and done it again! Bad dog!
Repeat. Ad nausem.

"Uh, are you telling me that to reset it, I have to kick its ass?"
"Er...yes, sir."
Er, if you want an AI's reset to be life-like give it a good swift kick in the balls. Ever seen a guy go down after a good kick? In hindsight, it kinda reminds me of a hard reset...
Eh no, this is an issue will allowing scripts run with unfettered access to the system. Made IE great for intranet applications but a security disaster on the web.
Oh, I'd say less of a security disaster and more of a security mushroom cloud. It is pretty much the source for most security problems on the internet.
they are called 'visual cues'. when the moon is down by the horizon, there are trees and buildings in your field of vision with the moon. you know that these are close(ish) by, and thus the moon gives off the illusion of being big.
when it is high up in the sky there is no point of reference other than stars and empty space, so the size of the moon's image isn't artifically inflated as it is close to the horizon.
cognitive psychology is really fascinating. ever been to the Mystery Spot? there are a handful on the west coast, one namely in Santa Cruz, CA (where I go to school). if you think the moon's trick is good, you should check that place out. balls rolling uphill, people standing slanted, and objects changing size when they are in different locations. cool stuff.
actually i think the spelling mistake was on the part of the investors before Google got launched. so many of them spelled Googol as 'Google' on the funding checks that they figured it was easier to stick with Google than go back and ask all their contributors to 'please write us out another check, but this time to the right company'.
something tells me calling them illiterate would have been bad for business.
