Not to mention their sampling protocol, which wasn't discussed as far as I could see.
40% of the people that TOOK the survey might think that, but how representative is the sample population? Surveys like this are so bogus because they don't take into account the potential differences in opinion between those who participate in surveys and those who don't.
Not to mention the fact that asking individuals in one specific area of a country is NEVER a good approximation to the rest of the country's opinion. It really never ceases to amaze me how often such surveys are used and regarded as a good indicator of anything.
Setting aside the corporate necessities for video conferencing; video over IM clients is a great way for families to interact when members are a great distance away. Text and voice is good to a point, but getting to actually SEE your loved ones (in a non-static picture) fulfills a deeper need. I'm sure a psychologist could better explain that than I could.
The fact that, in your opinion, video is a "stupid addition" is absolutely irrelevant in today's society.
How about writing an effecient GUI/WM with features that can be disabled by users so that you don't need a "special" version to run on "slow" hardware. There aren't separate versions of Linux/BSD for "slower" machines.
I understand that all GUI/WMs are becoming "prettier", which requires more memory, processing power, etc, but all of these features could be toggleable (is that a word?) so that when someone wants to ugprade their computer they don't have to switch to the non "low-end" version of their OS. Geez.
...for many, many reasons that have all been listed above.
In addition, if this were implemented and someone broke into your home and stole your DVDs, they'd also want your finger too. Great. So now human fingers become a commodity on the black market; beautiful.
Windows XP's default search function won't find text in the majority of file I tell it to search through... it's ridiculous. It is _not_ hard to code a program/script to go through a plain text file and find a string.

No. The composition of two compromized functions isn't going to solve anything.
Exactly. I see far too many parents subscribing to the "TV will raise my children" method of parenthood. It's disgusting.
If parents are not going to take responsibility for how their children are raised, then they have no legitimate reason to blame anyone other than themselves for how their children turn out.
Anyone who can read the handbook should be able to install it and use it. The problem is that not many people (including myself a year ago) want to spend the time to RTFM. The handbook really is well put together though. FreeBSD certainly isn't as "easy" to get up and running as Fedora or Mandrake, but it's certainly possible.
Only severe issue I've had with FreeBSD lately is with my Compaq laptop. If you want to run FreeBSD, avoid Compaq like the plaque. I can't even boot into the installer (it shuts the machine down). At least it runs arch linux...

No, you'll only be around for another 900+ years. DNF will still be released sometime after you die.

When RC1 was released, it was stated that it was "likely" to be the final, not that it was 100% going to _be_ the final before the actual release.
CD-RWs work fine for installing operating systems, I haven't burned an OS image to a CDR in years. CD-RW's are cheap enough now as well.
