  1. Military Application on Motor Made From Liquid Film · · Score: 1

I can see a military application for this.

You mix radioactive material into a liquid, then get it to spin in that film state and it could act a centrifuge to seperate uranium and plutonium. and that would be just the size of a washing machine and could be easily hidden from satellites.

  2. Along with redundacy on Open Source Study Included In US Stimulus Package · · Score: 1

What about the government forcing companies who make their employees redundant to open source any software that they have.

The only reason Microsoft is allowing Moonlight on Linux is because there is someone to hurt!! (Adobe)

If there was anything else MS wasn't market leader in they would probably hint novell into making a clone of that too.

  10. TV Shows on UK Proposes Broadband Expansion, Plus a Music and Film Tax · · Score: 4, Insightful

That is quite unfair on TV shows, I download tv shows much more than I download movies and I hardly even download any music.

shouldn't they give some of that tax to tv producers too?

Does this mean I could have an Linux AD server at home that would force whatever machine I connect to it to install my favourite set of applications and themes and wallpapers automatically.

Or is this just for windows? does gnome/kde need AD support? or would this be implemented as a daemon?

  14. Lawsuit Pending on Apple Intros 17" Unibody MBP, DRM-Free iTunes · · Score: 1

IMNAL but look at the screenshot of iPhoto, the photoview where you can label photos with a white background is JUST like a polaroid photograph, and that company has just been taken into administration. I hope their receivers do not make the connection with the photo labels looking like polaroids, because they might be sniffing easy money here. Then again if they start sniffing too early Apple can just change the form factor of those images to save a lawsuit.

  15. Single Tax on How To Create More Jobs · · Score: 4, Funny

There should be a unified Single tax. This way there would be a lot less paperwork to do. That tax should be a Money transfer Tax, for example 15% when you get paid, buy something, transfer money. etc. It would also promote saving which is quite good at this moment in time.

  20. Don't all quit on Rewriting a Software Product After Quitting a Job? · · Score: 1

If I were you I would make sure that you don't all quit at once. Maybe one of you should quit first and set up the company while the others just invest for a few months. Then the other guys can just quit one at a time and make it look natural. your old company has no right to know where you are all going. If they have a whiff that you are making a competing product they will get nasty. But also it's still a good idea to keep all the source unpoluted in order to stay safe incase they find out.
