Yes, it was wrong of me to perpetuate these untrue stereotypes of republicans. Do accept my heartfelt apologies. And say hi to your mom for me, it's been a while.
Portnoy - the ricer of the drummer world...:P I was at a DT concert in Oslo (six degrees tour), got his drumstick when he did his bounce-the-stick-off-the-drum-into-the-audience trick... Bastard hit me in the head..:|
we need self-sufficient colonies far enough away that they're not affected when Sol becomes a red giant and eats all the inner planets
I was born a thousand years too early/have read too many science fiction books... It would be a dream to go on such a trip... sigh... If the world could just be a little more like Songs of Distant Earth (after they got out there, that is, not while the solar system was going to hell...:)
That's a seriously scary thought: something maybe the size of our solar system moving through space at.3c or something...:/ Not likely though.. wouldn't it collapse due to all that gravity? And how would such a thing be created in the first place? Maybe a black hole moving at.5c through space?...:(
I get tired of the whiners that ask that question in every single article about cellphones with an even moderately extended featureset. Nokia (for example) produces some good, cheap phones that you can use as a phone, and not much more, like these: 1100 and 3510i (warning, although cheap, the 3510i has Java support. The horror!
Yes, I have been hoping for something like that for a long time... Would be sweet!
If I was a good enough programmer (working on it... slowly...), and knew anything at all about embedded/OS design/hardware interfacing/flash roms(bootloader in the flashrom?), I'd do it myself, but if I'm the only one thinking this, it will take a couple of years, if at all. Also, there might be a problem with the FCC on this (I'm not American, but a lot of countries, mine included, like to keep track of what devices can use the licensed spectrum, for compatabilty/service disruption/whoring out to corps/whatever). I read somewhere that cellphonemakers are are forbidden by law to opensource their firmware, or something... (If anyone knows anything about this, please enlighten me..:)
I can just see it... In the hood, some gangbanger is texting away on his sideKix Schwei--- right... The real target audience is the rich california twenty-thrity somethings who own companies and think they are pimps on the side. Nothing wrong with that though.
Yes, but he wasn't elected FUHRER or what have you in 1932. He recieved some other central post (prime minister?) in 1932 and used that and various power plays/night of the long knives/ to merge the reichskansler role with his current. Or so I seem to remember. Please enlighten me if I am wrong. I'm not saying that he wasn't popular, just that there were dirty tricks in the picture too, wether those that voted for him realized it/cared or not.
I was going to say that, but thank you for doing it. If you were sick that day in World history (or German, if you're German, I guess), read about it here
I went to an american high school for a year. I was the only one in the entire US history class who knew who Slobodan fucking Milosevic was (this was the year after they had taken World History..), and when I answered the question "Which former Yugoslav president is currently being prosecuted for war crimes?", I heard "Who's that?", and the kid next to me asked "How do you know so much?". I read fucking newspapers, that's what. I'm not some brainiac searching the intarweb, reading dictionaries and encyclopedias so I can say random obscure stuff. Do call me a troll, but it seems that what is considered common/relevant/obvious knowledge in most of the rest of the world, even among highschoolers, kids in the US have no clue about. (I'm not saying everyone at my school were braindead/uninformed/clueless, just that the brain signal to noise ratio was sorta shifted towards "that's gay." and stuff.
Do you see any European forces in the US? No? Then I think it's a good thing that they're leaving, no matter the complaints from the people who have lost their jobs that were created by a demand that really shouldn't have been there. I would guess that a lot of the jobs lost don't require any/much training, like working at lidl (the nazis are back, now in form of a grocery chain... (don't take this too seriously, please), or truck driving. So these people have not invested 5-8 years in getting their jobs, will not have to do retraining to keep up. They will just have to move, if they want to stay in the same trade.
I would say that them losing their jobs is tolerable. Dealing with the US while they have hundreds of thousands of soldiers in your country could become like arguing with someone who has a solid grasp on your balls, and for every time you disagree there's the threat that he might give them a squeeze. I mean, should the solution to unemployment all over the world be to call the US to see if they will put a military base near your local impoverished area?
During the Presidential Debates, the questions will be given out beforehand so that the Professor and Doctor can train the candidates on the correct answers, correct posture, correct voice inflections, etc.
How the fuck is this flamebait? It's obviously true. Mods on crack...
I'm curious about that cpu.. Does it run linux? (seriously, it could be extremely cheap and somewhat powerful, not to mention that it's obscure outside of china (I probably answered my own question there... Unless some chinese hackers have ported linux to it)).
Slashdot just broke one of the 2 rules of peacekeeping conversation, don't talk about religion or politics. They might as well start up religion.slashdot.org and flame on.
You say that like it's a good thing. Would you tolerate bases on your soil? I'm surprised the Germans and Japanese have put up with it for so long, but they may have very compelling reasons for doing so (shame, treaty, sense of obligation, economic incentive/whatever). I would be royally pissed at having an american base in my country. Or any other countrys base.
But maybe you can send missionaries to colonise us savages from abroad, give us TV and coca-cola, and we might learn to read
Funny you should say that. I stayed in the US for a year or so, and at a party this little girl asked me "Do you have TV in Norway?", and when I was talking with someone about cars, she said "But you don't have cars, do you?". I asked her what she meant, and she insisted that we all drove around in horse carriages. She may well have been the cleverest troll I have ever met.. But it turns out some old lady from an extremely goofy american norwegian organization had visited her school and told them about Norway anno 1800.
Actually, CS has been broken since the last update to Steam, unless you install it via point2play. Weird. But all the other games I play work like a charm. Check out Transgamings site for the full list (maybe wait until the slashdotting wears off...).
Yeh d00d, republiKKKans are dummies LOL!!!

Try "waffles." I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
What, republicans know how to use computers too? And googlebomb? This must be the new shock & awe strategy I've been hearing so much about...
Try "miserable failure"

Damn, look at all those low uid's.
Why, when the left is right and the right is wrong?
