I know this might not sound true, but I think if you were a hurricne victim who recently lost your house and family relatives, having an _wireless_ Internet connection might not be your priority
I don't know what the big deal is. This just means computer systems in China is just as insecure as computer systems in the US. If crackers want, they can also use US computers system to attack Chinese ones, only they don't beacuse for some unknown reasons (ahem, ahem) 'terrorists' love to target US. I wonder why.

Unless you have some extremely popular or short domain names, I would imagine you might be able to register it again when it expired. At least it is a good damage control while you are still in contact with your service provider.
What's next? The "Thought Police" will go after their students because they are showing too much expressions in front of the telescreens? Regardless how fast Chinese economy is developing, imho, a significent amount of Chinese people have been de-humanized. I don't want to elaborate too much because it hurts too much.
Keep in mind that, in general, it is middle-class or higher people who want to learn a foreign language...
I think you were a little fixating on the financial side of this problem. No doubt going over to a different country is very expensive, however, it really buys you something you cannot find from cassete tapes or computer games. For example, you get to learn a country culture plus you get the language environment (imagine how fast you would learn Chinese if no one around you speaks any English). I just don't see how one can get rid of his English CHinese accent without spending couple years in China (a sidenote: of course, that means you cannot be afraid of changes. Living in China is no easy business. The change of moving from North America to China is as big as gender operation IMHO)
Again, I fully understand learning from computer is the most feasible way and is probably the only way for many people. But I am just saying people shouldn't be blinded by computers and should really think about other options.
IMHO, currently people are relying on computer technology for their learnings and entertainment too much. As for learning a foreign language, isn't going to that country and talking to the 3-dimentional people the best way to learn? I know some people would maintain that not everyone has the opportunity to travel, but my point is that people shouldn't automatically resort to computers when it comes to learning and entertainment. There are other better options.
One question, if you were the soldier that died in Iraq and your heart-broken parents ask you if she can have access to your email box to remember you by, would you say 'no' to protect your piracy? Technology is one thing, but when it comes to family, I am afraid it is only technology.
