So now you know why they don't put telephony capability into tablets - people won't buy both a smartphone and a tablet, but opt for just one of the two.
That might depend on how you define people. Nobody who takes themselves seriously is going to use an iPad as a phone in public.
I'm sure this won't be a very popular option because Slashdot is allergic to Java in general and Eclipse specifically, but if were trying to write multi-platform GUI code with database integration I would probably start by investigating Eclipse RCP + Datatools.
As your employer, I'd like to see your randomly drawn ID, you know, to verify that you really voted during the two hours you were off.
Exactly, thats often how "voting" is managed in puppet "democracies".
I recall a dinner party in 1987 in Jakarta where one of the American oil industry workers described how the "voting" was handled in his office. (Note that I'm not picking on Indonesia here, this is just where my experience lies, and hopefully the system from the dark days of the dictatorship is a thing of the past.)
Is it wrong that I guessed that this guy was a conservative, and I was right?
No, but your sense of smug self-satisfaction is a bit off-putting.
1. Given how bat-shit-insane the American right has become you might want to get used to those to the left being a little smug. But I guess it does suck to have become the political punchline of the western world.
2. Never interrrupt the enemy when they're making a mistake.
“How far are y’all going?” Ruby asked us with a sigh “We’re going all the way ’til the wheels fall off and burn ’Til the sun peels the paint and the seat covers fade and the water moccasin dies” Ruby just smiled and said, “Ah, you know some babies never learn”
... or possibly flamebait.
Are the Bitcoin skeptics like me allowed to be smug yet?
This is why we can't have nice things.

Also "if you have a big enough ego to think you can create such a questionable site and get away with it" you're probably wrong.
You've had seven years to plan your upgrade to 2008, how many more do you need?
Failure by design?
D is the Betamax of programming languages, well thought out, feature rich but flown into the ground.

An example of this is Teradata Studio
... and everything looks like a nail.
1. Perhaps Bitcoin has it's uses, but at the moment that seems somewhat dubious.
2. I'm sure online voting will eventually be solved via cryptography.
3. If the solution to online voting involves Bitcoin I'll eat my hat.

I watched this film and and followed the plot fine, but was left feeling very unsatisfied at the end of it.
Which might just be the intent, it's been decades since I read the short story but I do recall a similar feeling after reading it.

Anybody have any better music suggestions appropriate for this story?
I tend to reference Dylan's Everthing is Broken for most software projects, seems apropos for Bitcoin in general.
He forgot the next step, always burn the flash drive afterwards.
That's why they're called flash drives right?
(I recently pointed out to someone whose mother I know that they wouldn't want their mother reading their twitter feed.)
... email, and anything else you do on the internet or with your cell is not private.
Never put anything in email, or text messages, or twitter or random internet forums that could potentially embarrass you or anyone you care about.
Sad that this needs to be pointed out, but clearly it does.
I'm sure that if you had lived without arms for 40 years these would be limitations you'd happily live with.
In fact you would be old enough to appreciate the coolness factor of becoming Steve Austin, heck we all wanted to be Steve Austin in the 70's.
Show me in any article where it says it even has a camera.
It's a fricking radar.
*drags pigiron out back and beats him senseless with a Star Wars collectors edition box set*
How is the army allowed to do this on american soil...?
How do you provide military radar coverage of domestic airspace without putting military radar installations in domestic territory.
If I throw the word NORAD up in the air will it stick to anything in your general vicinity?
(Seriously, are Americans really that clueless?)
Isn't the army supposed to protect us from foreign threats? This seems like a job for domestic law enforcement.
How do you protect yourselves from foreign threats without a radar system?
Someone is confused and I don't think it's me.
I was going to say something similar, but you brought a car analogy to the game so I'm folding.
It's really hard to type with when it's standing on edge.
You're holding it wrong.
Fuck the Soviets. It's their own fault. Next time don't trade oil for land to Nazis.
AMERICA, ARE YOU LISTENING?
RedMonk has it tied for 6th with C++, PYPL has it at 10th, and TIOBE has it at 14th. It came off from the Rails high, but it remains steadily popular.
That would be a usage of the word popular with which I was previously unfamiliar.
That makes it sound as popular as poking your eyes out with a tree branch.
