    You must have watched a different video to me, you don't find the Hubble deep field images to be awesome?

    I think that if I were delusional enough to believe in a higher power then I would be awe-struck and inspired by the evidence of his great works in those photos. Forget the "world was created in seven days" bit, the observable Universe is an awesome place and if it doesn't strike a cord in your cold-cold heart then I truly feel sorry for you.

    Instead of quarantines, we need to treat it at a regular hospital and treat the people with respect.

    There's a great idea, let's put a highly infectious virus with a 50% kill rate into a hospital and not quarantine those known to be infected.

    That's simply insane.

    Yes, the whole situation on the ground is fucked up, but not recognizing that the ONLY way to contain Ebola is by quarantine is going to make things worse not better.

    I'm English, but I was pleasantly surprised to find most of the 16-17 year olds giving well reasoned opinions on why they were voting Yes or No.

    I spent a good part of last evening listening to BBC Scotland Radio 1, I was very impressed with how civilized and informed everyone was behaving.

    But perhaps I'm comparing it with Quebec.

    iCloud.com addresses are required for most of iCloud's services. Without iCloud loses a lot of functionality.

    Not true, you can register with iCloud with another email address, however it will then automatically allocate an iCloud.com address for you, but you don't have to use it nor does it limit the functionality. (This is what I do...)

    Having a STEM degree and no communication skills is limiting. Having communication skills and no tech background is limiting in another dimension.

    This is why my daughter, bless her crazy little cotton socks, has been doing a double major of Liberal Arts and Civil Engineering. She completed the arts degree this spring and will finish her B.Eng. next fall.

    Note that the Bush-era series is a reboot of the series from the 70's (Jimmy Carter era).

    My theory is they don't go into STEM because of asshats like you. When they do, they go into fields where asshats like you aren't welcome. For example, my workplace has a firm "no asshats" policy, and, guess what, lots of STEM women.

    Exactly, I work in a similar environment and I'd say that on average the women actually out-perform the men.

    From my 70 year old mother who still designs railways for a living: "Of course we're better, we had to be just to get through school and stay in the game."

    Unity isn't the problem. The project management and developers are.

    This is generally the case, tools do matter, but people matter much more.

    Give a brilliant team a conference room and a supply of paper, pencils and food and they will turn the world on it's head. Give a team of idiots the best tools that money can buy and all you'll get is a steam pile of fertilizer.

    (Give the brilliant team the best tools... though, even if it only makes them 1% more efficient it's still cheaper than the tools.)
