    Iam taking part in a online quiz competition and found some answers with google.For some questions though ,googling didnt help much.Tried searchin for images ,but couldnt crack it.
    So,thought you guys could help me out. ;-)

    1.Whats the connection between these two pictures.
    2.Identify this brand of gun more famous in another context.
    3.RElated to the world of automobiles.What is this lady's claim to fame.
    4. This spider is named for the unique marking on its rear segment which is shown in the picture. So, who is it named after? (Cryptic clue- Think of a nice sobriquet for Thomas Alva Edison's mom, though they may be more than one.)

    Its heartening to know that so many of you are willing to mail me.Thanks. But then Iam not in USA. I did see the damnsmalllinux.But there arent really any instructions on the site as to what really to download for running from CD.[ and the mirrors are real mess...had to serach deep into folders!] Anyway iam downloading damnsmalllinux (49 MB).I hope it boots from CD! BTW,what is this checksum number?How do i use it to verify the integrity of file I downloaded? for eg: the iso iam downloading has this: c633b1e4deebac7543a27ee347375e29 dsl-0.8.2.iso

    Is there any Linux OS that is less than 10 Mb ,and can be run from CD without installing?

    No ,i dont want knoppix.It may be good, but I simply cant download 700 MB image file on dialup.
    So any options?

    Oh yeah iam a windows user.wanting to try linux.or perhaps a new OS.

    hey i really wanna try it out with the 3mb file...but i simply cannot mess with my hard disk partition [ Never done partitioning - although i have installed windows many times].And 38 Mb for running from Cd is high for me.I cant download such a huge file from my dialup.

    Hi!
    Congratulations on your effort to create a new OS.

    Iam basically a windows user looking to try your Syllable [ Not even tried Linux so far].You mentioned Libsyllable to ne 1.3MB. Iam on limited bandwidth, and i would like to try the small size version and run it from my Cd without having to mess up with my harddisk.[ I do have a burner].

    Now what do i download,The link,and btw can .tar, .gz be extracted with Winzip?

    ALso iam on PIII,128 MB ram ,win98.Is that ok?

    Iam a windows user and not the typical linux geek.Although i now know something about linux after readng about them so much in Slashdot,I simple dont know what this " X " thing all about.

    probably today I will try a New oS for the first time with Syllable [hmm....i hope the live cd works ]

    Because you of your prejudice you read it the wrong way.
    All I said was that ,1 TB of space doesnt need to be allocated to a user immediately after he signs up.Whats the point of allocating 1 TB for every account created when all the user used was few MB's?Wont the rest of the valuable disk space go waste?

    Infact be it Gmail or Yahoo or anyone, you thought they cordon off 1 GB of space in their hardisk in the new user id a user creates?

    Truth is the promised space is offered to all users , when they use it.

    No one is thinking of cheating users.Only you are.

    Yeah, they've forced other free e-mail providers to compete, and the consumers are benefiting. What a rip.
    Rip? Lets see how long. One fine day, one of the providers will says due to escalating costs the service is no longer free and you have to pay for it or lose your account and all your emails will be deleted if you dont pay within 3 months!

    And one by one all other providers would follow suit.....

    [ or worst if they cant cope up the smaller ones will close]

    When 10 GB email account is considered unfillable, so much that the owner is willing to give 1 server of 1 TB for the winner, the even better idea - to that owner and my fellow slashdotters ( if u wanna st art up a email service BTW },
    would be to offer 1 TB space for all- that would really be unprecedented and gain the maximum publicity and no one in this world would probably use more than a few GB - and the owner wouldnt have to worry about providing 1 Tb since as and when a user signs up , 1 Tb space doesnt need to be allocated and can be scaled up as and when required.

    And in a rare case that despipte the cooling provided a processor burns ,what could happen to the full system?

    How on earth does someone calculate the calculation speed of humans?

    There simply cannot be a perfectly correct method for doing it.You [not exactly you] measure power by comparing Human Neurons and Computer nodes ,huh? What is the proof that it is correct?
    And to top it, though all humans have essentially same structure of brain, a lot could vary.

    What? You want a country to spend its entire GDP on food?Only When development occurs in all realms in a parallel manner ,can a country prosper.

    for eg: If all they did was spend on food and left out education ,computers etc.... then they wouldnt have become a software powerhouse. More importantly,more such jobs means more money for the country.
