    It won't. When you do it for too low of a cost it will fail like Beagle 2 or Mars Polar Lander. Faster, better, cheaper doesn't work. Once they start killing people and still try to be cheap their space program will come to a halt fast.
    Do You know Anything at all about Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)?

    Do you know how many satellites they have launched since inception?
    ISRO is not some low quality manufacturing company and infact carry many satellites for other countries who cannot launch it on their own. Hav a look at their milestones : http://www.isro.org/mileston.htm

    their space program will come to a halt fast.
    As for that,their space program is a roaring success already....
    India belongs to a elite club of six [US, Russia, China, Japan and the European Space Agency are the others] - who control a lucrative satellite launch market.

    i understand firefox has fixed this vulnerabilty.The current version of firefox is 1.0PR.The mozilla site says the next ver will be out in late september.

    Anyone knows exact date of release.?

    Almost everyday I have been downloading the patches from Microsoft and others. - so much so that iam using DAP download mngr and queing them up !

    yesterday it was scroll bar vulnerabilty,today is Jpeg Vulnerability....
    Whats it going to be tommorow?
    Computer Switch ON Vulnerabilty? Iam not going to be surprised if such a one comes up.
    Add to this my dial up connxn!

    Right now I use Win 98 ,Firefox .

    BTW,what are the updates for Firefox vulnerabilities and where do I find it?

    I think the next generation Download Managers should have these features:
    * Select s/w for patch update search - Eg: windows,office,IE,FF,Winamp. * Automatically queue them up and download.

    I think thats the only way I can manage to download all patches for all s/w I use.

    The Fun of Internet is only so long as your computer does not get infected.

    I ru n win98 and got myself a copy of bittorrent.Never really understood how to use it. Although i fumbled with it.

    Is there a simplified step by step process to learn how to use it?
    BTW,for those of you cribbling about 'slow' uploads of 50kbps,my stats are:
    dload -40kbps
    Upload-15kbps
    but connecetd speed is 10 MBPS
    What the heck!

    A: No, you don't. Not that Microsoft isn't loathsome, but there was a hacker culture long before Microsoft and there will still be one long after Microsoft is history. Any energy you spend hating Microsoft would be better spent on loving your craft. Write good code -- that will bash Microsoft quite sufficiently without polluting your karma.

    Yeah, I don't think this kid is all too bright compared to a lot of other hackers. I mean, for one, he got caught.

    If a hacker gets caught , doesnt have to mean he isnt bright.Eg:Mitnick.He is the role model for many.

    Many websites scream the other way round, and some hacking guys like to say they are crackers [ positive connatation they want].

    somesites suggest.
    hacker=harmful.
    cracker=has the skills like hacker but uses them for good purpose ,like providing security etc.

    Its not my opinion ,but what I have seen in websites.

    The comments page for this story has become a real security night mare on slashdot! Why do you have to provide direct links to the windows update .exe file? [ that too so many are providing it, as if it is a sig ].


    And another guy is sayin - " what if the evil guys are reading SD and add opera and mozilla exploits " - [ not exact quote ].And then goes on to provide links to exploits in mozilla and opera [a google search link too].

    By giving links to flaws in opera and mozilla , you want to help the evil guys who are reading slashdot?

    Now dont argue - " You have to be stupid to click on those links, Iam annoyed how people click those links etc.
    This may be slashdot , but still littering the commenst page with unsafe links does no good!

    Links are to be provided where required .Not wherever possible.

    Hi dude~!
    Iam getting paranoid of clicking any link in Slashdot!

    Clicking on the gmail invites took me to a bloody pornpage,inspite of having the caption [Google] provided faithfully by slashdot.
    Luckily ( or so i think } i was using firefox - but still the porn page, with shaking windows and a horrible voice (SWF) hit me.

    Could clicking on the link damaged my comp?any thing could hav been installed?

    Please.how to know which links to trust? - since even the properties / caption box [ google ] are ineffective.

    Forget "spam out links". First fix malicious links in Slashdot! You might have seen the dubious "Gmail invites" links posted at the beginning of the comments. Inspite of having gmail account, stupid me,i clicked on the link to do an "analysis " of the gmail invite address!!

    Too bad,slashdot too gave the site address as [google]after the link....It only opened a porn page ,with shaking windows.Thank god i was using firefox. I dont know what would have happened had i seen it with Internet explorer.

    Even better i had images OFF when i visited.So kinda saved.But I would like to know if clicking on that link ,would cause any further harm to my computer.

    And since the caption of the site name that slashdot provides been proved useless, how can i find the name of the real site that link will take me to?

    Can you tel me where i can get free Mcafee VIRUSSCAN ?i hav win98.
    Although Mcafee website does have a free trial page,when u finally finish the sign up process you cannout actually download Virusscan.it says you gotta subscribe first!
    No,i dont want to do that Free online virus scan.

    Or is Mcafee available as cracked piece at some crack site?

    1.first of all, a single site cant be a sample of the internet,more so if its a a not so famous site
    2.a early adopter site like that would hav a majority geek/tech crowd, who will be on the latest,newest,best.That wont be the same with the general public.
    3.A good sample would be few thousand major sites like Google, yahoo ,amazon,ebay etc.
    Just to make the point , what do u think the browser stats of slashdot will look like?
    internet explorer 90%?Ofcourse not.Firefox,opera et al cud contribute 90+.
    IE is highly infamous here - wont be surprised if the stats are less than 10% for IE.
    Of course only cow boy neal can give real proof.
