That has been taken out of context.

Given that we have a large number of immigrants from old bosnia, iran, somalia, etc who does not speak any language with which to get by in sweden. These have been blamed for all kinds of problems, some might be warranted but probably not all. The law you refered to would be an attempt to get the people who want to stay here to make a bigger effort of getting integrated.

I personaly have no opinion in the matter.

However anyone speaking english would have no problem in Sweden, since we learn english from the age of 7 these days, english/american TV shows and movies are not dubbed etc.

If you would like to learn swedish here is an online course for you:

While on topic I'll just post my rant because I need to get it out of my system.

You have to look at the total amount of money spent on entertainment, I bet that if you include DVD, games, internet music store sales, etc. You'll find that people spend more these days.
I'll just assume that the 6 million World of warcraft subscribers are spending a big chunk of their entertainment budget on the world of warcraft subscribtion. So that's a lot of kids not buying britney or your other new product.
Even the internet subscribtion fee is might eating away at the entertainment budget.

Sorry RIAA your medium just got more competition these days.

Not to mention the ridiculus prices you expect people to pay for a plastic disk.

Normal people don't have the time to spend on the games. The 30 hour game would probably last a couple of months and that's if he put in all his game time on that game alone.

I don't think he has anything against unlockable content. A certain amount is fine for the hardcore fans, but when it becomes a core part of progress or necessary to enjoy the game it was meant to be played. That's when it has gone too far. Played a fighting game lately? 25-50% of all the characters have to be unlocked through repeating content over and over. Where it just used to be 1 or 2. Most of the time with a fighting game should be played kicking your friends butt anyway.

What I want are solid games that can be played satisfactory out of the box. With a couple of goodies hidden for the hardcore players.

  22. Re:Examples Please! on The Pirate Bay Is Back Online · · Score: 5, Interesting

There have been numerous articles showing both sides of the story, often in the same newspaper.

The swedish national TV station (funded by every household with a TV) ran a story based on an informant, basicly saying that the minister of justice was running errands for the white house. Ordering the takedown of the pirate bay even though prosecutors had already looked into it and found that they couldn't justify a takedown. The minister of justice and his departments actions are currently being investigated.

There have been an online poll showing that about 87% think that music copying is ok. Most people also think that music piracy would go down significantly if a music CD had a resonable price.

Oddly there have been no mention what people think of actual programs and games being copied. So as far as the masses are concerned they think TPB is used only to copy music and movies.

I would like there to be an article around the fact that if TPB is found guilty of assisting copyright violations. Where do you draw the line? What about google or any other search engine? What about community sites, several cases of rape and pedophilia has been caused by connections made on such sites, are they assisting these crimes as well?

Lots of people are outraged that the police already low resources are being wasted on copyright violations when people don't want to go alone at night out of fear of rape / muggings.

All in all I think the media coverage have been better than expected.
