u want to do this in a relaxed enviroment...not in front of your computer. console games ftw.
easy games to get into and most importantly superfun:

super mario strikers (gamecube)
super smash bros. melee (gamecube)
mario party 7 (gamecube)
mario power tennis (gamecube)
mario kart (gamecube, ds)
puyo pop (gamecube, ds)
tetris (ds)

its so simple...just let something explode next to it and alter its flying curve. even a veeery minimal change leads to a drastic alteration in the end. no asteroid can match the size of the problems we have on earth.
slot 2 happens to play only gba software AND only in singleplayer mode (no linking) AND is better suited for accessory such as rumble pack, internet browser, tv tuner etc. the ds lite slot 2 will be shorter so gba cartridges will stand out. (like classic gameboy cartridges on gba handhelds.) which explains why the tv tuner accessory comes out in 2 sizes.
i shudder how people assume that kids are treated right or better when they are bent to other people's likenings under the force of profit and the need to work.
i applaud you for the effort of writing and the understanding u gave me but there is also the difference of the mice that are born in the wild and those that are born/grown in the lab. we(humans) abuse a species therefore, more specifically we abuse an artificially modified organism for our own reasons. u could talk about symbiotic now...i guess. ya and...i dont eat meat. (fruitarian)
there are many sites out there that do the same. its just a database with name, friend code, email. one should also consider that sharing friend codes and playing only with friends thins out the userbase of the global matchmaker system.
the ipod is not just another mp3 player that does this and that. its an integral factor in the experience that u get when u combine it with itunes, the itunes music/video store, ical, adress book, iphoto, the sexy unique design and the ease of use of mac os x on a mac. its amazing how pc users are dealing with the lack of some stuff. (but hey...isnt that a miracle since 20 years?) "software drives the user experience"

there is no such thing as a gameboy ds. its nintendo ds. the gameboy advance sp and gameboy micro are the current gameboy.
