I agree, McAfee has slipped, as has Norton AV the past several years.
Note to AV vendors: you can't rest on your past laurels, to stay competetive you must move forward and innovate to keep from being dethroned by your "more hungry" competitors.
Past and recent experience has forced me to consider McAfee and Norton as "has beens", and no longer viable contenders. YMMV, but this is the way I see it.
I read you loud and clear, as I headed a Secial Forces team in that Panama f*skup.
I'm just getting fed-up with our (USA) gov't. upholding big business at the detriment of individuals, and wondering where to apply the oath I took (and seriously took to heart-I cnsider myself a patriot) to defend the USA Constition against enemies foriegn and DOMESTIC. It has become really stressful for me at a personal level. I can't decide where to draw the line, but am afraid that my indecision is already PAST the line. I just don't know anymore, and this dismays me.
To me, it seems a fine line between protecting your country's existance and keeping same nose out of other country's existance, I am afraid we are rushing across that fine line with a veangeance at the behest of some of our powerful corp.'s/lobbyists...and that disgusts and angers me.
I dunno, something has to give, I'm just afraid of just what gives anymore.
Where does the madness stop? I know that a "global economy/gov't. is coming, but who is to say we (western/NATO) is right? This is interfering in RUSSIAN gov't., WTF?!?!
Okay, I see where we got crosswise. I missed the AC's post (set to not even see AC's), so yeah, I was confused. Diagram not needed, but thanks for clearing things up, and my apologies!:)
I don't like the sound of it, but I think you may be right. Brings to mind a book I read from Baen Free Library (http://www.baen.com/library/) by author David Weber, titled "Freehold". Check it out sometime- very interesting read.
How you got modded insightful astounds me. You and the clueless moderators could not have RTFA. It was the woman's daughter, not someone that wasn't known. Sheesh- f*sking idiots, you and the three that modded you as insightful!
While I agree with you, my pessimistic side wants to cry out Dream On.
Sorry, just the way things seem to be going lately.
I deplore the trend to advance corporate profits/outmoded business models over individual's freedoms and fair use, it is a trend none the less.
I understand that there is a fine line between consumer's rights (damn, I hate the term consumer) and artist's rights, I also understand that it seems more an issue between the distributors and consumers....How the hell did we get to this point?
It will not be easy, but reform/revolution of the current system is much needed IMHO, but where/how do we go on from here to make it right?
p.s. in Firefox, the "Phoenixbay" (used to be piratebay) is on my bookmarks toolbar (Arrrrgh! Matey's!), I also support and utilize a lot of indie bands and their downloads. I have no problems with the actual artists getting paid, I just have developed a very bad attitude with both RIAA and MPAA over the past couple of years.
Just the facility capable of replying/re-recording the tapes will be shut down. If you have ever worked in/with Fed. Gov't., then you should know that the equipment in said facility will have to stay in inventory and will still be onsite for a while after shutting down- not like for special occasions it can't be reused, and this would be one of those special occasions, if the budget allows.
I worked at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in 1976-77 and know that Neil and CO. watched the tapes during debriefing of the mission, then later got to re-view with family.
"look dear, that's MY foot making that footprint!"
Okay that alledged "quote" I made up, as I was not there for debriefing (before my time there), but wouldn't you?
LOL!!!How funny- if you go to the website, it seems to be about "email marketing" techniques!!!*spam* LOL!
I have to know, was this known to you beforehand and posted as warped humor, or as I suspect, you were just going for "generic website" as an example. If it was a warped sense of humor....Well Done!, if not, it's still funny!
That is my take on this also, wish I currently had mod points, if I did I would not be replying, but giving you +1 insightful instead- sorry I can't do better!
True, but the XP version of MSCONFIG can be copied to W2K and will then work just fine. Usually MSCONFIG is found in c:\windows directory in XP, just copy to removeable media, go to W2K box, insert media and copy to C:\windows directory- don't even have to reboot amazinly enough- it just works! (can also be moved across network, whatever)
I still prefer the "how many naked Japanese girls in a phonebooth" metric myself (http://nakedworldrecords.com/phone.htm) when doing in-depth research!
I would be right beside you if possible. I watched N. Armstrong take that "small step" in '69, and have always been wanting to follow in his footsteps, literaly as well as figuritivily...but NASA had some strict requirements that a 20/200 vision, 230 lb., 5'10 geek had a lil' bit of a problem overcoming to that end, so, maybe India will call me- I'll go!
side note: the pic's from Mars excited me quite a bit, and filled me with wonder.
Very good reply! Well done. This is what keeps me coming back to/. when I decide to give up on it due to the inane, kneejerk, blatant fanboy, etc. posts that are getting more numerous all the time.
Your post was: concise, informative, not insulting/derogatory, and directly addressed the point. I heartily give you A+ since I have no mod points to give.:)

That is still the problem today. we need to prohibit access to PC's from PHB's, or this will continue.
Exactly the same here. You have millions of people using PC's, you have millions of screwups....period. Never underestimate the *power* of a luser with a PC! As a side note, if it would not be too embarrising, I can recall some escapades of my own doing before I got a clue!
I suggest a new metric for/., forget "how many Libraries of Congress", and "metric butt/arseloads",and use "how many naked Japanese girls in a phonebooth" instead. (http://nakedworldrecords.com/phone.htm).
I also picked this up- WTF? Whatever happened to "for the good of common mankind"? Must we PATENT everything for profit?
I'm starting to feel like Cyberpunk is no longer a game, and is reality ( or heading that way with corporate-run governments - why are we putting up with this?)

"Allowing other people who you don't even know to use your internet connection is just plain dumb."
Does this help you out referring to what I was replying to asshat?
Get your facts straight before you jump the gun, you won't seem so foolish next time.

Ahhhh....I should have read a little further before I replied- I bow to you- you beat me to it fair and square!
No doubt. If this were to happen, then there would be an argument whether Neil Armstrong shot first...er, I mean stepped first. ;)
That's what I guessed, but the fact it was a real site about email marketing was just too much!
Good shot!
That actually is a real website:WidgetsForSale.Com

Clearly one of the best and funniest posts I have read here!!!
Someone with mod points mod this post to the moon!

I understand completely! (yes, I worked the phones at Creative Labs tech support, and yes, this is the way it goes)
LOL again on the mouse pad! That's soooo great!
