First, THANKS for your work! What I am curious about is the synergy that (at least to me) seems to exist between SciFi writers and real world technology. Writers can be inspired by new technology for creative ideas for stories, and at the same time, writer's imaginations seem to fuel a part of the creative/imagining process of technology. I guess my question would be: Do you see this happening, or is my own imagination running amuck? I read some of the older SciFi and see (and USE) some of the technology imagined by those writers, hear about astounding advances now, etc., yet I wonder Where do you (SciFi writers) see SciFi heading in view of TODAY'S technolgy?
Okay, let's just bite the bullet and get on with it: get our tracking/ID chips implanted, get our National Driver's lic. (does that mean the lic. is good anywhere in US?), have 666 (or whatever it's supposed to be) tattoed on our foreheads, and finally, let's all BEND OVER AND BE GOATSE'd!!!!
Think your hemorrhoids bother you now? Ain't felt nothing yet!
"I'm not american, and we do have national ID cards, we've had them forever and no one ever gave a damn about it..." That's fine foe you and yours, as that is what you are used to. I'm sure that your country is better off than it used to be (probably evoved from monarchy, I'm guessing), but we have only known a monarchy for an ALMOST insignificant time (when we first settled here, found a better way for us, and overthrew the monarchy). We have gotten used to our freedoms, LOVE THEM, and DO NOT want to regress (yes, that's how we tend to view losing eve the tiniest bit of freedom-regression). We fear and loathe shackles more than the unknown, (at least most of us do) and that's one of the reasons that this country is one of the "Big Powers" globally today. So, just because that Big Brother style of govt. suits you, keep it away from us, and don't be so quick to judge something you know little or nothing about!
When I RTA, I got the impression that keeping the transmitter low powered, no lic. is req'd. Don't know the threshold/legal power limits. Might be similar to walkie-talkies/ cb radio I'm guessing.
Semantic web...makes me think of the scene in WoO when professor is "uncurtained" and the Greatand Powerful Oz shouts something about "pay no attention to the PERSON behind the curtain" (don't remember exact wording). I mean, whose "meaning" is going to drive it? Could be cool tho'..."computer, search for meaning of prOn." WoooHooo!
Ditto here. It's nice for a change not having everything flamebait all the time. I like seeing this kind of stuff in the hopes i can either learn something, or maybe on occasion help someone else out!
Apparently my math knowledge is sadly incomplete, from TFA:"...an entire Fortwo comes together in only 41¼2 hours (compared with more than 20 hours at a conventional car plant)." What kind of formula is that?
This is another exmple of:" Just because you CAN do somthing, doesn't mean it's actually a good idea to do so". IMHO of course. I mean, who am I to stop someone from deliberately developing hemorroids that *slap* their calves/ankles as they walk!
New optimised browser for AOL: Now catch bugs up to 10 times faster! Get OWNED by goatse.vbs.exe.badshit faster and harder than before! oh well, ya gotta cull the herd somehow, job security, etc. ***tries to convince self...***
"...had boosted 2003 sales 12.5%, to $30.1 billion, and earnings 81%, to $5.6 billion." May have something to do with it. Sales up 12.5, earnings up 81? nice profit return
Nothing could be more perfect: Windows OS, AOL, and AOL's IE based browser. The only improvement that I can think of: bundle CoolWebSearch,Gator, and CODE RED virus with new browser......Sheesh!
Unfortunately, your word choice "...spread like a virus..." is RIGHT ON!

Time to patent EMpulsticide for robotic pest control!
Well, it's a shame it doesn't work for him as advertised, but I don't have much sympathy for someone that would sink 10 grand into TV!?

You're correct- more often DOS via sledgehammer appears among very high crack users!

Agreed! IMHO, it's only a "wasted vote" from someone else's perspective because you're NOT voting the way that person would like to see you vote.
