  1. Re:Target Audience on Getting the Girl · · Score: 2, Interesting

Some of my Real Life female friends are gamers. I got really shocked the first time one of them mentioned playing UT2004 online. Then I felt realy guilty. Still can't temp any into coming to a Lan party. I guess hanging around with a load of sweaty Blokes for a weekend is not their cup of tea, for some reason.

I agree - from the little knowledge of women I have (Steming from Elaynes dreams in The Wheel or Time) the big violent muscley type is not so attractive. If they made a game where the lead character is a sensitive chap who is prone to stopping and... thinking about stuff... rather that just nuking another demon, that would be a character targeted at a female audience. Hell, I don't know. Can't we have a womans opinion? There must be atleast one on Slashdot...

Quote that artical "There's no question that the Earth is getting hotter--and fast" I always raise an ibrow now, when a person of any of the longer term sciences claim something is going to happen soon, or fast. For instance when my astronomy teacher claim that the earths magnetic field would flip soon, and it would happen fast. What he meant, on futher questioning, was that it would happen with in the next couple of thousand years, and that it woul take a thousand years to happen. Probably a similar thing for the global warming thing, perhaps.

Nah - thats just American politics. We spent a hella long time doing that in my GCSE History classes (Mighty unfair I thought). In the UK we like to think our politics is based just on who is most suitable for a role... Then again, I may be wrong.

I thought Venus was still active? http://www.nineplanets.org/venus.html " Data from Magellan's imaging radar shows that much of the surface of Venus is covered by lava flows. There are several large shield volcanoes (similar to Hawaii or Olympus Mons) such as Sif Mons (right). Recently announced findings indicate that Venus is still volcanically active, but only in a few hot spots; for the most part it has been geologically rather quiet for the past few hundred million years."

I think it would be cool if Britian became leader of the world again. England was really good when we had an empire, and now we have a little weedy country. So what we (UK) need to is reclaim all our colonies, The America's included, retake Europe, bring Queen Victoria back to life, conquer China (We need the tea) and use the sum of the worlds technology to lead it into a new era of space exploration... Hell, we could even shove all the criminals on some barren planet like mars, just like the good old days...
